*Lexi's pov

I gasped and covered my mouth, tears forming and overflowing. "Oh my god" I whispered. The doctor left then and I struggled to relax. Michael walked in then and saw me. His eyes widened and he pulled me into a hug. I could feel Adam's eyes on me and I turned around. I shook my head and he let the tears that welled in his eyes go. We walked over and sat with them trying to form the words that explained what was going on. Adam managed to take charge. That's one of the things I loved about him, even in the worst situations he was able to take control. He explained what happened and got all the information we needed from the hospital.

We all went back to the house and collapsed in the couch. "Can I go to bed?" Sam asked. We nodded and told him to take Liza too so we could talk. I carried Liza upstairs and put them to bed in one of the guest rooms, they refused to leave each others side. "What's gonna happen to us?" Sam asked. Liza had fallen fast asleep and I watched her a moment. "That's what we are going to figure right now. I promise you'll be okay. I love you Sam." I said kissing his head. "Get some sleep" I whispered and turned off the lights and shut the door. I took a deep breath and went back downstairs. I stood in the doorway watching Adam and Michael struggle to handle everything. Adam looked up wiping his eyes, and I broke down. I sat with them on the couch and Adam held me and wiped my eyes. "What's going to happen to Sam and Liza?" I asked softly. We looked at Michael, "mom changed her will after he left" he said refusing to say Sam and Liza's dad's name. "They apparently agreed that he was out of their life and that if anything happened mom would decide where they would go. And mom changed her will saying that you two would get them." He said. "Wait she wants Sam and Liza to live with us?" Adam asked. Michael nodded, "I'll give you guys a chance to talk," he said. I hugged him, "see you in the morning" I said. He nodded and kissed my cheek.

"So..." I said softly sitting back with Adam. He laid on the couch his arms wrapped around me. "So..." Adam said back lacing our fingers together. "Babe, I know you didn't want a family and now were kinda thrown into this but..." Adam said softly, in a soothing voice. "No Adam, I'm not leaving them. As scared as I am, with you by my side I know I can do this." I said looking up at him. He smiled and kissed me, "I love you Lexi." He said. "I love you too Adam." I said kissing him again. "So we're gonna have a ready made family?" Adam asked. I nodded with a shy smile. We sat up most of the night talking and watching movies.

I woke up and my shoulder was wet. I turned some and looked at Adam, his eyes were wet but he was still asleep. I wiped his eyes gently and kissed his cheek, brushing his messy hair aside. I watched him a moment before I got up and got a piece of paper and a pen and started writing. I looked up as Michael came down the stairs. "Morning" I whispered and followed him into the kitchen. "Breakfast?" He asked. "I'll make it" I said getting out a couple of pans. "No you can make coffee, I'm making breakfast." He said. I smirked, "fine" I said and went about making the coffee while he started making pancakes and bacon. "So you're writing," he said looking up from the bowl. "Yep" I said. "God you guys are so much alike." He laughed. I laughed with him and poured a glass of iced coffee that I made the day before. "Mmm bacon!" Adam said walking in kissing me and getting himself some coffee. "So babe, we didn't discuss tour" I said looking at him as he took the stool next to me. "What about it we leave Thursday?" he said. "Adam your mom just died and we just became parents. What do you mean what about it?" I said wondering how he could possibly be oblivious to the facts. "I know Lexi! God my mom died last night! I get it! The wake and funeral will be Tuesday, Wednesday and we leave Thursday" he said. I looked at him, "what about Sam and Liza?" I asked. "They'll come with us," he said. "I got them a tutor, mom would be pissed if I gave up everything because she was gone. Honestly I need to be on the road and I am not leaving you and Sam and Liza behind." He said. I sighed knowing he was right, we need to keep a routine.

Sam came downstairs first. "Morning" I said seeing him, his eyes red and puffy. My heart ached for him and Liza. They were so young and this was just unfair. He nodded and sat at the breakfast bar with Adam and I while Michael was finishing up the pancakes and plating the bacon. "How are you doing?" Adam asked. "Alright I guess. I'm just worried." He explained. We looked at each other, knowing why but we asked anyway, "why are you worried?" "What's gonna happen to Liza and me?" He stared at us as Michael handed him a plate and a small bowl of chocolate chips. I grinned, that's how I liked mine too. "Well mom had that planned out. She wants you guys to stay with us." Adam explained. "So you'll be like our mom and dad?" He asked. "Well I guess in a way yes. But you don't have to call us that, we're just Adam and Lexi" I said, "okay?" I asked looking at him. "What about when Adam goes on tour, you have to go too Lexi. What then?" Sam was curious and smart, probably smarter than we give him credit for. "Well Adam and I talked about it and well, you can come on tour with us, Adam hired a tutor, this way you can keep up with school even when you're not there." I explained, "unless you rather not, Adam can find a new assistant and I can stay home with you both." I said. "So like home schooling?" He wondered. We nodded watching him. "Okay I guess." He said and dug into the pancakes with the now melted chocolate chips. Liza stumbled in then and became wide eyed to see the pancakes and bacon, "yum!" She yelled and climbed up on a chair digging into her own dish that Michael provided. Adam finish his coffee and kissed me, "I'm gonna change and Michael and I are going to make plans, I'm sure Shawn knows already someone must have seen us in the hospital," he said. "I got damage control babe, go, don't worry about anything" I said kissing him. He nodded and changed before leaving with Michael.

"So what should we do today?" I asked them. "The park!" Liza shouted stuffing her face. "Mom promised me I could get something special after the trial for being brave" Sam said quietly. "Hmmm" I said teasing them, "I guess we're going to have to go to the mall and then the park!" I said and finished my own cup of coffee. After forever walking around the mall and a quick lunch we headed to the park. I watched them run off, not a care in the world, which was inspiring to see from Sam after dealing with so much hurt.

By dinner they were exhausted so I packed them up in the car and headed home. "Lexi," Sam said we pulled into the driveway. "Yea Sam?" I asked turning the car off. "Of all the places we could've ended up, I'm glad mom put us with you" he said smiling. We got out of the car and they helped me carry in the bags, correction they took the toys I was stuck with the clothes they managed to convince me they needed. "We're home" I said as I unlock the door. "In the living room" Adam called. The kids ran in to show them what they got and I followed behind and dropped the clothes bags. "Wow, Lexi's pretty generous." Adam said smiling. "Can we play upstairs until dinner?" Liza asked batting her eyelashes. Adam nodded and they started to run out of the room. "Woah! Take these clothes bags and bring them up too. And Liza go pick your own room." I said and they sighed but grabbed the clothes and raced upstairs. "You didn't have to do that" Adam said and I plopped on the couch. "I know but honestly after all of this I needed the distraction too, and shopping has always been a hobby" I grinned. He laughed and I kissed him. "The wake is tomorrow and the funeral Wednesday. We leave Thursday night for...um..." He looked at me. "Florida" I said. "Oh right. Has Shawn talked to you?" I shook my head and looked at my phone as it rang. "His ears were ringing" I joked. "Hi Shawn." Pause, "yes I know I'm sorry it's been crazy, Tuesday, Wednesday. No canceling shows." Pause, "of course, but Sam and Liza are joining us." Pause, "yep tutor and all." Pause, "Okay, see you tomorrow" I said and hung up. "Well?" Adam asked. "It's fine, he was worried about you though and Sam and Liza but didn't want to bother us too soon. All the guys will be there both days, and he thinks your crazy for not canceling shows." I said. He laughed, "thought so."

I held Liza, crying softly while standing at the grave. Everyone has left to go to Angela's restaurant for lunch but Adam, Julia, and Michael stayed. I couldn't leave them and Sam didn't want to leave Adam's side. Liza cried into the crook of my neck watching her brothers finally and completely break down. It ripped at my heart, Patsy was like a mother to me. We stayed a while longer before finally joining the others.
