(Spencer's P.O.V)
It had been a week since Lauren saw her mother. Thank god I was not there for that, or else I probably would've gotten mad. I hated that it forced her to bring up the baby again. It always sends her into a depressing mood.
Lauren was laying in bed. She missed her period. She took a pregnancy test a couple of days ago. We were now awaiting the results. In case wondering, I don't really know if we were trying for a baby that night. I think we just didn't think about it. It didn't matter much. I would love to have another baby with her. It had to work this time...
I turned from looking at her to making a cup of coffee. I drink a lot of coffee...
I was pouring it as she screamed, "Spencer!" I jumped, dropping the coffee and running to her. I was getting nervous. But instead, she was standing up in the bathroom, looking at the test.
"Yes!" She shouted, tossing it into the air. She ran over to me, swinging her arms over my shoulders. I held her so tight. "Yes, yes, yes," she whispered into my ear. I loved her being so happy. She grabbed my hand and pulled me down the hall and swung open the door to the baby room.
"In nine months..." She breathed heavily, "There will finally be a bundle of joy in that little white bed." I looked down at her. Tears were falling down her pale cheeks. She leaned herself onto my chest. I put my hand on her head and leaned down to kiss her forehead.
"I have to go." I said, pulling out my phone, reading a text. "Work."
"Oh okay. Alright." She said, standing on her toes to reach my lips. She kissed me meticulously before pulling me into a hug. I tightly held her, resting my chin on her head. "Love you." She happily said.
"I love you too." I grabbed my satchel and rushed out the door. This wasn't work. This was the night.
(Lauren's P.O.V.)
It was now four o' clock and Spencer never called. I waited on the couch all day. Nothing. But then suddenly, to my surprise, Spencer did call.
"Hey." He said. "Wanna go out to dinner with the team tonight?"
"Um, sure." I said, smiling at the fact that he just called me. "Time?"
"Is six good?" He asked.
"Ye-" I began. He said, "Okay, it's a nice place, I will pick you up. Gotta go, love you, bye." My heart fluttered with excitement. It has been a good day. I quickly sat up to look at the clock, which read, 4:13.
I stood from the couch and ran to the bathroom. I jumped in the shower, washing my hair with his favourite shampoo: organic lavender. Then, I washed my body with it's matching soap. I towel dried before blow-drying my hair. So far, I was pretty dang excited for this because I needed an escape. I hadn't been out since with my mom. That was dreadful, though. Whatever, whatever, whatever.
I slipped on a pretty red dress. It was sleeveless and went mid-thigh. I bought it just for a nice dinner... Much like this was due to be. It was now 5 o'clock. I rushed to put on some make-up. Did I ever mention how much Spencer hated when I wore make-up? I just put on some eyeliner and mascara and plastered my lips with lip gloss.
Afterwards, I straightened my hair and slipped on my red heels. I looked in the mirror, finally absorbing that this outfit- it was beautiful. I looked beautiful. And apparently Spencer thought that too. He said that as he walked through the bathroom door, making my heart jump. He looked so handsome. He had a such a cute, civilized outfit on. My heels made me a little taller than usual. I smiled at him as he took my hand and pulled me through the door and out to his cute, little car.
He had his hand on my thigh while we drove to a nice-looking restaurant. When we were finally there, he hopped out of the car and ran over to the door to open it for me.
The table was big and full of Spencer's team. Somewhat nervous and stumbling, Spencer ran over to a seat and pulled it out for me. I bit my lip and smiled, stepping over to the chair and sitting in it. My hands were in my lap as we sat there, sort of awkwardly.
"Hey, Lauren." Derek said, raising his glass of wine to me. I smiled, nodding slightly.
"Hi, Derek, how's it going?" I asked. We both laughed due to the silence of the rest of the table.
"Good, how about yourself?" He said, chuckling. I smiled really brightly. Although this wasn't my team, I felt compelled to tell them about my life and the baby I was going to have in nine months, hopefully.
"I'm good, which reminds me, I actually have some news." They all stopped and looked at me, smiling. "I am pregnant again." Silence filled our table, and I'm sure the number one thought on their minds were the hope that it does not end up like last time. It was the thought on my mind too. I tried not to think about it. I tried to leave it behind me.
Finally, Penelope started clapping slightly. "I am so, so happy for you two! Hey, hey, cheers to Reid and Lauren's new baby!" She put her glass up and we all tapped them together, before taking a sip of our red wine.
"Okay, before we begin our meal, I would actually like to do something because I'd love to call this a celebratory dinner." Spencer exclaimed, standing from his seat. JJ looked like she new what was about to happen. She smiled, her hands together. I turned around to Spencer, who was pulling something out of his pocket.
He got on one knee, and silence began to slowly fade in throughout the whole restaurant. My eyes opened wide, as I wasn't expecting this to happen, because for some reason I didn't exactly view myself as the marrying type. But, I was certainly excited for the events that were about to take place.
"Okay, how do I even begin?" Spencer said, looking into my eyes. "A few years ago, we didn't plan on becoming this close, let alone having a baby together. We didn't plan for anything. But here we are now. I am madly, madly in love you with you, Lauren. I don't know what it is. It's truly crazy, the feelings I feel for you. Mark Twain, a great author once said, to get the full value of a joy you must have somebody to divide it with. And I was never truly this happy until I fell in love with you. So please, give me never ending joy and marry me?"
Tears were now filling my eyes. "Of course I will, Spencer." I fell into his arms and he held me there, not letting go. My love grew stronger for him each second. Happiness filled my heart. This was the first few seconds of Spencer and I being engaged. He placed the ring on my finger and I felt like I was going to burst into a ball of tears.
