Chapter 4.

Emptiness dug a cavernous hole in my heart. I didn't know what to feel when I see all the boys geared with spears and poles surrounding a frantic-looking Ben with gooey saliva dangling from his mouth as he slurred for forgiveness. I licked my lips, a sick feeling bubbling in my gut as I watched Alby gave the orders, nodding his head to Minho whom had thrown Ben's sack out into the maze.

Ben continued begging and crying when Alby rose his hand and nodded to the others. Everyone rose the wooden stick in their hands and began cornering Ben to the door of the maze. Ben's eyes connected with mine, looking helpless and scared shitless. He bowed down, hitting his head on the ground hard and slurred his apology one last time before scrambling into the maze with no choice.

The door closed, leaving everyone with mixed feelings.

Thomas's eyes were swollen and red. I grimaced at the guilt he was feeling. I patted his shoulder and Thomas looked up at me with tears brimming his eyes as he bit down his lower lips, holding in the sorrow and guilt tormenting him. I felt bad for him.

"Happy now shank?" Gally whispered at us. I frowned at him and tossed a worried glance at Thomas who was clenching his fist. His chest vibrated vigorously with every ounce of effort he put in to restrain himself from crying. But Gally wasn't finish with his inhumane speech and stepped closer to us. "It's all your fault. If both of you hadn't come, nothing like this would ever happen." He spitted at Thomas. Gally's viscous spit lies onto Thomas's head and something in me snapped.

Gally was far beyond inconsiderate, he was pushing the limits. He had to pick on Thomas at his bottom and since he likes beating someone up when they are already at rock bottom, I'd like to let him feel the same way he degraded Thomas with my fist. I lunged forth without a word and fling a punch across his jaw. Gally stumbled back a few steps.

Everyone around us froze and retreated as far as possible while Gally snapped his head to me, death in his eyes when he charged forth, tackling me to the ground. I held my hand up, blocking my face from his punches and launched a punch a his was it, flipping him over.

"You are a bloody jerk!" I yelled, my voice cracked under the wrath exploding like volcano within me as I sent another blow across his cheeks before being forcefully pried off Gally by a huge pair of hands. I thrashed around and screamed, "Let me go! I still haven't teach him a lesson!" Just then, a face leant in at my side and whispered, "I think that's enough shank. You've already rearranged that deformed potato on his face."

I snapped my head towards the owner of the hands raked around my waist and gritted my teeth. Minho held my gaze without flinching and smirked, "You are really a gusty shank." Just then, my brain yanked out the sight of Minho half-naked in his room and my heart did a flip. I scrambled out of his grip nervously and looked away.

"Let go of me! I'm going to kill that slinthead!" Gally yelled while Alby hold him down. I clenched my fist and ambled forth. "What do you think you are bloody doing greenie?" Newt asked angrily and Minho quickly grip onto my arms. I stared at Newt and shifted to Gally who was throwing death glares at me. "You might want to try harder in killing me because from what I see..." I eyed Gally from head to toe and snickered, "You are a bleeding mess."

"Slim it greenie!" Alby shouted and everyone flinched. Silence filled the air and Gally stopped flailing around and looked away. "Greenie, homestead now." Alby ordered and I frowned, stepping forth. "And that ass gets away from punishment just like that? What bureaucracy is this?" I questioned Alby and he scowled at him, bending down to whisper in my ears, "Let's not make this hard greenie and do what I says."

I opened my mouth and tried to squeeze out more words but all I felt was a burning sensation tearing down my throat into pieces. I clenched my fist and snapped my head away, looking at Thomas who was eying me with a contrite look. I smiled and shrugged my shoulders, hinting that I'm fine and Chuck shot me a thumbs up.
