It's hard to sleep when your heart is at war with your mind. -R.H. Sin

Walking through the night proved to be a good plan after all. Clarke hadn't realized how much time she was wasting by stopping to rest, only to be woken up an hour or so later by her nightmares. Although she knew that going for long periods without sleep wasn't good for her health, she had to admit, at this rate, she would arrive at the dropship within the week.

She didn't have a Grounder map for where she was now, but she did have a map from before the bombs, and she was somewhere in the state once known as Virginia. None of the cities or towns existed anymore, so she had to navigate by the rivers and mountains named. She was in the northern part of the state, and from the best that she could figure she was currently forty miles away from a former border with a place called Maryland. That's where she was headed. For in the top right-hand corner of the map, where a part of the paper had been torn away, was TonDC.

Clarke knew that she couldn't set foot within five miles of the Grounder village. Any feelings of friendship that had formed between the Grounders and the Sky People were lost at Mount Weather, and anyone that could be linked to Clarke would likely be tortured for information if they were found outside of what had become accepted as Skaikru territory. The Commander's deal with the Mountain Men would have put her in a position of weakness in the eyes of her coalition, and the Grounder way to redemption was through revenge. TonDC was a devastating loss, and what better way to bring justice to her people than to announce that the 'leader' of the Sky People knew about the attack, and did nothing to try to stop it. It was the obvious thing to do, and Clarke knew it's what she would do in the same situation. She could only hope that Octavia had told the others what really happened that night. It was unlikely that her mother would tell anyone of Clarke's betrayal. She was good at keeping secrets from the people that they were meant to help.

Whether or not the Sky People knew what had gone on that night, they had each other to rely on for any trouble that came their way. She'd left them with Bellamy, and he'd promised to take care of them. They didn't need her, and she was fooling herself if she thought that they did. They didn't need her to defend them from Grounders, and they didn't need her to come waltzing back into their lives.

Clarke had thought about what it would be like to return to Camp Jaha, and the outcome was never good. The more likely outcome would land Clarke in custody the moment she stepped inside the gate. The Council would want to know why the innocent couldn't be saved, and although they weren't from the Ark, if there was any indication that there was something that could have been done for the people in Mount Weather, Clarke would potentially face time in lockup. Some would say that it was too harsh, but others, Jasper in their lead, would say what happened at Mount Weather was cold-blooded murder. Her mother would of course try to veto the ultimatum, but she wouldn't be able to stop the flood of supporters.

By now the Sky People would know about the events that had transpired before the bombing of TonDC, and any of her friends who didn't hate her for irradiating Mount Weather would call her a traitor and a coward for putting the lives of her people in danger to protect herself. On this subject her mother would be less lenient, having been in the village during the missile strike and almost being killed herself. She may not interfere at all, which would result in Clarke's certain death. She could say whatever she wanted to the Council; that she had wanted to warn them, that Lexa had forced her to sacrifice everyone in the village when they were the only two that Cage Wallace wanted, but they would still hold her accountable for every death.

She would most likely be shot. A single well-placed round to the head should be enough to do it, and although ammunition had to be saved for protecting the camp, one bullet could be spared to execute a mass murderer. It was funny, at least in her mind, anyway. Clarke would go down in history for dying. She would be the first person to be executed under the law on the ground.

Maybe it should have bothered her more that she was contemplating her own demise, but to Clarke it was as mundane as listening to Raven discuss technology with the other engineers, or watching Miller and Bellamy show off with their guns. Death was a too-regular occurance in the world that they lived in for her to be too concerned about it.

Clarke didn't notice herself mumbling, or that she was stumbling around the trail like she had finished an entire jar of Jasper's moonshine, but someone else did. The spy faded into the darkness, moving seamlessly into position for the next phase of the plan. The Skaigada was exactly what they wanted, and there would be no second chance if this ambush wasn't executed flawlessly. Club in hand, the spy moved soundlessly next to the path until Clarke was thirty paces behind. The spy crept closer to the trail and waited for Clarke behind a large bush. When she was five paces away, the spy put the plan into action.

The spy grabbed the nearest twig and snapped it, alerting Clarke to a presence ahead. Assuring herself that it was just another mutated animal foraging in the undergrowth, Clarke drew her knife and went over to the nearest bush to frighten it away. She moved the branches aside, and saw nothing. She rustled the branches of the nearby shrubs and saplings to force the creature out. Being preoccupied on the right side of the path, Clarke didn't see the movement from the left side until it was too late. The spy gave no warning before aiming the club for her temple, and Clarke fell to the ground, immediately unconscious.

"Yu ain, Skaigada," the spy said, and drug Clarke into the forest.

Yu ain, Skaigada: You're mine, Skygirl

I had terrible writer's block during this, but hopefully I will write faster in the future. If there is ever a large gap in time between chapters, it's because I have writer's block, no other reason. Thanks for reading!
