Azazel's PoV:
Lucifer smiled at Murmur and I, waiting patiently for an answer that either of us had yet to deliver. Being the most well-known and powerful figure in all of Hell, you would think that his appearance would be more deadly looking, or threatening at the very least. But, standing at a mere 5'10 feet with a lean figure, he was quite the opposite. His pale blond hair was tied back into what the mortals call a "man bun" and his skin was just as pale as his hair. He usually wore plain clothes, mostly for comfort, except when there was something important going on. He had an easy-going smile, you know, the one that makes you instantly relax and drop your guard. The most striking thing about him, however, were his emerald-colored eyes; they were a very unusual color down here, which is why people either stared deeply into them, or avoided them at all cost. All in all, he himself was not ugly at all like some stories try to portray him as; he was utterly beautiful. And that's where most beings make their first mistake upon meeting him for the first time.
You see, some lower beings are not as in-tune with themselves as higher beings such as Fallen Angels are. They cannot feel someone's aura as well, if at all, and, because of this disadvantage, they fail to understand who Lucifer is and just how powerful he truly is. Where everyone from every different realm has multitudes of colors, Lucifer's...just doesn't. I'm not saying that his aura is pure black like some people say, I'm saying that his aura doesn't have a color. Think of how a black hole works: it sucks everything inside, including light. Nothing escapes and that's exactly how Lucifer's aura is. It may have been a color long ago but, it is nothing more than a void. Because it technically doesn't exist, lesser beings cannot see or feel it, making them come to the conclusion that he is not Lucifer or is not as powerful as he claims to be. However, like all Fallen Angels, he can hide his aura if he so chooses to, which he does sometimes. When he lets his aura loose though, you can easily feel it and its' power, especially when he is angered. The worst part of his aura? He can easily absorb another person's aura, instantly absorbing that being and whatever power they had. A word to the wise: looks can be very deceiving.
Because of his power and position, Lucifer is not much a fighter. I'm not saying he doesn't know how to fight, because he fights well enough to put the archangels to shame, but, he likes more shadow fighting than anything. He enjoys mind games and fighting with words and subtle threats, his strategy of psychological warfare is more terrifying than him killing you. He is beyond brilliant in what he does, and that is what scares everyone the most about him. Not how he could kill you a thousand different ways but, how he makes you wish, beg, for death when you are caught in one of his games. You die on the inside when he is done with you, a living shell that wanders Hell for the rest of eternity. Yes, eventually he will tire of seeing your living corpse shuffling around and will end your existence, but, you just end up back here, living once more but now a little more wiser of just how terrifying Lucifer can be.
Looking at him now, with his hands clasped behind his back and that easy smile on his face, I can tell he is not in the best of moods. He stands straight in one corner of Murmur's room, floating slightly above the ground as to not get any dirt on his polished shoes. His aura fluctuates slightly in the air and I, along with Murmur, instantly bow our heads slightly. We are not afraid of Lucifer but, rather we respect his authority and power. "I hate to ask again but, what is it that I need to be informed on?"
I looked over at Murmur, her violet gaze landing on my star-like eyes, and she made a motion for me to tell Lucifer. I raised my eyebrows at her as she went back to lounging against her pillows and I rolled my eyes before turning back to the head Fallen Angel. I stood up and addressed Lucifer: "Sir, it seems in my travels to the mortal realm, I discovered something...unusual."
Lucifer gazed at me, his emerald eyes now showing a look of intrigue, and motioned for me to continue. "A mortal girl of only 20 years caught my attention one trip a couple of weeks ago and has continued to hold my interest up until now. I do not know how the vamp and were patrols could have missed her as she is like a moth to a flame but, I will deal with them accordingly, with your permission of course."
I heard a snort of contempt and I turned slightly to glare at Murmur, who just rolled her eyes at me in response. Why must she always try to defend everyone? I sighed and returned my attention to Lucifer, whose stance had relaxed slightly, which was a very good sign.
"As I said before, the girl has held my attention and curiosity for weeks now and I couldn't figure out why until just now."
I paused, hoping Lucifer wouldn't comment on my lack of better knowledge, but he just snorted instead. "You cannot understand something if you do not know what it is first", he told me with a wave of his hand. I nodded my head to show him that I understood what he meant and carried on. "Sir, I used some of my gift to understand just what this girl is and...it seems she is an archangel/fallen angel hybrid".
Silence greeted me when I delivered the news, Lucifer just staring at me with an unreadable look in his eyes. I looked back at Murmur, who had straightened herself to see Lucifer's reaction, and saw the same look of puzzlement that must be on my face. I turned back around to look at the boss and watched as he cocked his head to the side slightly.
"A hybrid you say?" he asked quietly, the strange blank look still in his eyes. I blinked slowly and nodded, watching carefully for whatever reaction Lucifer might have.
"Are you sure?" he asked again.
"Yes, Sir, I am positive that this being is a hybrid somehow."
"And you are certain that she is only 20 years old?"
"I checked her driver's license to be sure."
Lucifer blinked slowly, taking in the information and processing what could possibly be the biggest discovery in all of Hell. Then, instead of anger or cool indifference, or any other reaction that I was prepared for, he did the one reaction I wasn't prepared for: he laughed. Lucifer, King of Hell, the most powerful being next to God, laughed. Not one of the fake, dry chuckles he usually does but, a full blown, real laugh, something that very rarely ever gets to be heard. I turned around while Lucifer was laughing and looked at Murmur, whose mouth was slightly agape and her eyes the size of saucers. I slowly turned back around and stared as Lucifer composed himself and smiled brightly at me.
"Well, damn, that's the best news I've heard in years!"
Startled, I opened and closed my mouth, unsure of how to respond to that. "Why?" I somehow managed to stutter out. He smiled even wider, his pearly teeth showing now, and said something that had both Murmur and I gasping in surprise.
"Because, it means my daughter is finally back."
