I wake up the next morning realizing it is a Saturday, so I won't have to go to work today. I head into the kitchen to find my mom making pancakes. "Hi Ayden dear. How did you sleep?" Mom asked, while flipping a pancake in the air. "Not great." I told her, I've learned it is better to just tell your mom the truth instead of lying. "It's Brooklyn isn't it?" She looked at me and I drop my head. "Sweetie, you do this so often. You know that she has moved on. She is a wonderful girl, but she was just a phase in your life. As much as I love you, I will have to admit that I'm still sad you left her."

"Gee, thanks for the pep talk mom."
"Ayden, it is time for you to find your own life. You control your future. Go after her, get over her, it's your choice. But please try to be happy for once." My mom kissed me on the head. "And maybe find an apartment of your own.." She said with a wink. I helped her finish up with the pancakes, then ate them faster than you can say 'Mississippi'.

"I'm heading out mom, Love you!" I said, rushing out the door. I jumped into my car, and drove out of town, to a small neighborhood nearby. I parked in front of my old house, and walked around to the back, which was full of trees. I made my way through the trees to Brooklyn and I's secret spot. Our fort was no longer there, after all, it was made out of cardboard. But it was still as beautiful as ever out there.

I moved some leaves out of the way with my foot, and sat down. I needed to think. "What do I do?" I yelled to nobody. I fell backwards so that I was lying on the ground staring up at the blue sky. I closed my eyes and began creating a plan for my future.

"Saturday, I have Saturdays off." I thought to myself as I opened my eyes. I rolled over and grabbed my phone. "No messages. That's unusual.." Jaxson always sends me a good morning message, especially on Saturdays. I rolled my eyes, and turned over so that I was laying on my back. "I wonder what Ayden does on the weekend. Does he work? Maybe I should go see him, for old times sake?" I slammed my hand down onto to my bed. "You are being an idiot Brook. He hurt you, remember? You relationship with him, is 100% over. Forever." I told myself.

I squeezed my eyes shut and took a deep breath. "What to do today?" I sighed, before sitting up really fast. "I'm going to go visit my old hangout!!" I hopped out of bed, threw my hair up into a messy bun, and grabbed some leggings and a cute sweater.

I started heading to kitchen when Justin Timberlake started singing. I grabbed the phone, answering without looking. "Hey Jax, what's up?" I asked while shoveling a bagel into my mouth.

"We need to talk. Tonight." He said with a serious tone in his voice.
"Ooh, sounds mysterious. What about?"
"I'm not going to talk about it on the phone Brooklyn."
His tone scared me, it sounded bad. I felt better when a thought popped into my head. "What if he is going to propose!? Just figure out the details."
"Alright babe, where and when?" I asked, still working on my bagel.
"The park, 7:30."

"Alright, I'll be there! I love you Jaxson." I made a kissing sound into the phone. "Okay, bye." He said. "That was weird.. I wonder what's up.." I said, talking to myself. I decided not to think about it, and to focus on what I wanted to do: Go to my old hangout. I finished eating my bagel, and ran out the door to my car.

I left about an hour later, only to realize the moment that I got home, that I had left my jacket there. "Nice move son." My mom said when I told her. "Whatever, I'll go get it later." I replied before falling down onto the couch and grabbing the remote. My mom snatched the remote out of my hand before I had the chance to turn the tv on. "Did you figure out your plans?" Mom asked, sitting down on the coffee table, blocking the tv. "Moooommmmm." I whined. She smacked me on the side of my head.

"Talk to me Ayden. I know you have been doing some thinking."
"Yeah.. I want her back in my life mom. I still have feelings for her after all these years. I was a better person when she was in my life. She made me want to be a great person. And now look at me, I'm a slob."
"Well you aren't wrong about being a slob. If that's the truth, then why did you treat her so badly? Also, what if she isn't the same person you fell for? And don't say 'After all these years.' It hasn't been that long."
"Thanks mom... You are really giving me a self-esteem boost. I was an idiot. I had the wrong friends and I got all mixed up I guess, I don't know. I don't care who she is, as long as I can be by her side. That is all I want."

Mom stood up and poked me on the head. "You better treat her with respect young man. From here on out, no matter what happens. You hear me?" She looked like she would kill me if I didn't listen, even though I have no intention of being disrespectful of her. "Yes mom, I promise I will."

I got out of my car, and made my way back to the spot. I quickly lay down on the ground, when a familiar smell appears. "That smells like.." I hesitate, hoping it isn't true. "Ayden!" I spin around but no one is here but me. I look to my left and notice a jacket lying on the ground. I reach out to grab it, and I take a whiff. "Ayden has been here recently.." I say to myself. It was the same scent he used in high school while we were together.

"Has he been using it all this time, or did he decide to use it again?" I gasp suddenly. "Did he see me watching him yesterday!? Is that why he was wearing it again?" I shake my head. "BROOK stop it. You are about to be engaged to a wonderful man." I told myself.

My eyes became wide at the thought. "WHAT am I going to wear tonight?" I jump up. and without thinking, grab Ayden's jacket, and I head to my car.

Brooklyn (Two hours later)

"Casual or dressy?" I say, while looking at myself in the mirror. "Dressy, obviously." I grab a dress out of my closet. "But WAIT, then he'll think I know, and it'll ruin the surprise. I'm gonna go with casual."

This debate went on for another hour, and I eventually decided to dress up for the event, because of pictures and stuff.
By that time is was time for me to head out. The park was right outside of my apartment, so it didn't take long for me to get there. I see Jaxson sitting on a bench and I walk over and give him a kiss on the cheek. He wasn't dressed up, wearing some board shorts and a basic tee.

"Hey babe!" Jaxson didn't look happy to see me, and he cringed when I called him babe. "Sit down, Brooklyn." He told me, grabbing my hand and leading me to sit down. "Here it comes!" I think, trying to contain my excitement. "Listen, I know you and I have these plans together, and I feel like it is time for us to start thinking about our future." I nod my head in agreement, trying not to smile too big. "And I feel like our future will be better.." I squeeze his hand. "If we see other people." Jaxson tells me, pulling his hand away. He didn't even have the nerve to look me in the eye.

"Oh.." I gulp, trying not to break down right in front of him. "I see." "Brooklyn listen.." Jaxson grabbed my hand, but this time I pull away."No, no. It's alright Jaxson, I get it. Whatever." I say trying to hide the fact that I would love to hit him square in the nose. My breathing begins to get heavy, and I know I won't be able to hold back my tears much longer. I pull my shoes off (Which happen to be a gift from Jaxson), and I throw them at him, and turn and run away as fast as I can.
