Levy took off around the rooms. Max made a face and stuck his foot out. Suddenly, Levy appeared, flying through the air. He landed on his stomach, making that oh so attractive fish face as he lay sprawled on the ground. We all doubled over in laughter.

“You should’ve seen the look on your face!” Dodger said between laughs.

“Bite me.” Levy spit. Max made a face.

“Ouch, that hurt.” Levy got back in line and folded his arms across his chest. Arianna was smiling indulgently at us.

“Dodger, come on up.” Arianna muttered something into a walkie talkie, and dodger turned his head to the north, pin pointing where the other person stood. He took his glasses off and the head phones, pulling down the hood. He winced, but didn’t put them back on. It was one of the few times I ever saw him without it all on. His dark, curly hair stood straight up in a couple places.

“He looks like Alfalfa.” Boomer whispered to Nicco.

I looked at Sadie as she sat next to me. It was the middle of the night, and we had snuck out of the house. She was staring up at the sky on the ground next to me. It had only been a few days since we had really been alone together, but it felt like forever. Sensing my gaze, she turned her head.

“What?’ she demanded, smiling at me. One side of her face was lit on silvery light from the moon while the other was in shadow. I shook my head.

“Nothing. I heard you and Arianna fighting last night.” She made a face.

“I hate fighting with her, but what she was saying wasn’t making sense to me. Those kids need to be kids every now and then. Not to mention the guys need to get out also.” She said, propping herself up on one elbow to look at me.

“I know. I don’t know how things are going to be after the battle.” I said.

“That’s what I’m worried about. What if this is their last time to fool around for a while?” I didn’t say anything, and she traced a random pattern on my arm, following the scars in some places. Her touch left a burning, tingling sensation every where it went. I suddenly took her hand and dragged her down towards me so our lips were almost touching.

“Is this an act to seduce me?” she asked jokingly. I smiled at her where she lay beside me.

“Is it working?”

she nodded. “Yes. And to think I was going to leave you for Liam.”

I chuckled and she wrapped her arms around my neck, letting her hands tangle in my hair.

“So, change my mind.” She murmured. I kissed her, feeling her mouth open and I breathed in her sweet scent. Her grip on my hair tightening, then loosened as she let her hands slide down my face an onto my chest. I let my hands rest on her waist. We broke apart and I traced a slow line down her neck and collar bone with my mouth. He rested her forehead against mine.

“I miss you.” She murmured against my lips. I looked into her deep brown eyes.

“What do you mean?”

she shrugged. “I miss the days when we didn’t know about the pending doom. When it was just you and me and we didn’t have to sneak away.” She said. She stroked my cheek with her thumb.

“One day, we can do that again. Not forever, unfortunately, but long enough.” I said. She rolled over so she was still pressed against my side, but looking at the sky.

“Do you ever miss it?” she asked. I knew she meant the castle.

“No, although sometimes I do miss the quiet and the dark. I don’t miss the loneliness, or the rules, are the constant fear.” I answered.
