The subtle relaxing of Sadie's body against mine told me she had fallen asleep. I hoped I had made the right choice. When she had looked at me, her chocolate brown eyes appeared to melt right before me, and I couldn't help myself. I just let my instincts take over. There was no way I was gonna let her go now. I watched the rain pelt the water of the large pond, bouncing up off of it. Thunder split the air again, and a strong wind blew through the branches of the willow we were under. Sadie trembled in her sleep, and I tightened my arm around her waist. I stroked her cheek, causing her freckles to dance when she twitched her nose. Her hair was still damp from being out in the rain. I decided that I really didn't like the rain half as much as I liked the sun.

"Will you tell me now?" Came Sadie's soft, sleepy voice. I hadn't even realized she was awake. I looked down at her. Her eyes were open just a little, watching my face. "Tell you what?"
"Tell me how you got into the castle." She said, propping herself up on one elbow. I decided she needed to know. I had dragged her into this, and she needed to know more about it. Not to mention the fact that I felt the strong urge to confide in her, to tell her everything.
"There used to be a blonde haired lady that took care of me." I began. I told her the whole story, of how I didn't quite remember the lady, but she was pretty. I told her how I slowly began to see in the dark, how I was cursed and why, the attacks if I got to close to the door. She watched me with wide eyes the entire time, never interrupting. At the end of the story, Sadie just sat there for a moment, taking it all in. I hoped I didn't just scare her off. I doubted I could handle that. Finally, she looked at me, and reached out to touch my face, caressing it with her thumb. I realized that I had stood up in my story telling, and now we sat back down on the ground, Sadie in front of me.
"You know, you could have told me earlier." She said quietly. She twined her fingers into mine, and I felt a warm sensation spreading through me. "You don't regret telling me, do you?" she whispered, looking suddenly worried. I smiled a little. "Of course not. I'm glad." I said. She smiled, the smile that was so beautiful it was even more astonishing than when I first got out of the castle. I wrapped my arms around her and dragged her towards me. She laughed as I kissed her, and she wrapped her arms around my neck as I breathed in her warm, sweet scent that made my head spin. Suddenly, she broke the kiss and popped up.
"C'mon. We better get going." She said, holding her hand out to me. I took it and pulled my self up. The rain had stopped, leaving the earth wet and humid. Steam was rising off the pond, giving things and eerie look. Sadie shivered. "Creepy." She said and started walking. Rex came out of the fog, giving me a heart attack, and glared at me, then went to trot next to Sadie. "How do you think that spiders doing?" she asked as I caught up to her. I shrugged.
"He's probably out by now. He never was the smartest of the monsters in there." I said. She smiled up at me. "I always hated spiders anyways."
A while later, we heard a sound we hadn't heard for quite some time. A car go by. We broke out of the trees next to a small road. The car we had heard was still going down the road. I doubted many people came through here."Oh, good. I was just about tired of the woods." Sadie murmured, walking across the road with me on her heels.
The town was small. There were a few houses lining the roads. In front of one of the houses were some kids playing. They stopped there game to watch us pass. We came to what appeared to be the center of town. It looked like a ghost town. There was no one in sight, not even a car. There was a church, and a couple other large buildings, with three roads coming off of the area.
"Look! A junk yard." Sadie said, taking my hand and dragging me towards it. It had a sign that was crooked because one of the chains holding it up had snapped. There was a large fat man sitting out front with a bottle of beer next to him. He had his hat pulled over his face, and I assumed he was sleeping. Sadie went up to him and poked him in the cheek.
"What are you doing?" I hissed. She turned around. "He's out cold. We're good to go get a car." She said. A car.Great. Inside, the dirt was still wet, causing quite a mess. Pieces of twisted metal littered the ground, along with cans and stray pieces of trash. There were lines of cars, Each one with something missing. Sadie went up to one. "No seat." She went to the next and sighed. "No steering wheel." She went down the line, looking for missing pieces. After a while, she stopped and leaned against the dented hood of an old black car.
"Every car has something missing." She stated, staring at me. "How about we go around and take the steering wheel from that red car, the seats from that blue one, the muffler from that mustang, and the doors from that camero." I suggested. She smiled un expectantly at me. "I knew there was a reason I kept you around." She said, standing on her tip toes to kiss me.
A while later, we had gotten all the parts we needed from other cars and attached them to the black car using a series of tools we found lying around. Sadie got in the driver's seat and turned the key that had been left in the old beater. It sputtered, then rumbled to life. Sadie threw her hands up in the air. "Listen to her purr!" she said. I smiled and got in next to her. "Can you drive?"
"Nope. But I can learn." She said, flooring it. The poor old thing lurched forward with a groan and we sped out of the junkyard. As we went by, the sleeping guy sat up and yelled after us. Sadie swerved onto the road, almost going off the other side. "Where to?" she asked after she finally got the car a little more under control. I pointed in the right direction as we drove off. I wished the car could go faster, but I doubted we could get it to go above fifty. A few people came out of their houses to look as we went by. The car wasn't the quietest thing.
