EPILOGUE

A few weeks later, I'm definitely deeply in love with May. Every day spent with her, in school or out, every second she spends dancing, singing or just living in my apartment makes me fall deeper and harder for my purple-haired angel.

Speaking of her hair, I noticed something amazing. Everyday for about two weeks, I've noticed it was getting paler and paler. It doesn't have a pastel shade anymore, it's more purplish-white than lilac. Her hair faded.

"May."

"Yeah?"

She turns to face me, twisting on the desk chair while I look up from my book, on the bed.

"Your hair dye is fading."

She smiles. A real, broad and enlightened smile. A smile than means everything I wanted it to.

"I know. I stopped taking care of it."

I look at her. She knows, and she's not doing anything about it. Her voice replays in my head: Once. I fell deep and hard for someone, I stopped taking care of it. It faded.

Could she have fallen deep and hard... for me?

She stands up from the desk chair and comes to sit at the end of the bed. She hands me a paper.

"I've tried to put away my love

I'm left with grief like a mourning dove

I'm in this constant state of limerence

I'm received with such indifference

To me, you're like sunshine after the rain

Without you I'm a winter's bane

If only you could see my glimmering eyes

If only you could hear how my heart cries

Let's create something between you and me

And together let's flee, shall we..."

I recognize the lyrics of her song and look up to her, confused. Why is she giving me this? She smiles again.

"Read what's written at the bottom."

I look at the very bottom of the page, and I see, in small characters, my name.

Dedicated to June Hastings.

"You dedicated it to me?"

She blushes and nods.

I smile, because I know I've succeeded. She's fallen for me, as hard as I've fallen for her.

I take her hands in mine and kiss her tenderly.

I love her. She loves me.

Let's create something between you and me

And together let's flee shall we...
