Chapter 4

Alex's POV

A new Monday, a new week of hell. The alarm goes off at 6:00 and I lay in bed for 40 minutes on my phone. I get up pick out an outfit, put it on then go to the bathroom. When I'm done I wash my hands then I hear a loud crash.
"What the hell was that?" I say out loud. I open the door and go downstairs to see what it was. I turn to the kitchen and all I see is my mom on the floor crying next to a pile of broken glass and my dad storming out of the house, my older sister comes downstairs to see what happened. As soon as she sees my mom, she goes to help her. Me, being the awkward kid that doesn't know how to handle these kinds of situations, just stands there in silence while My sister helps my mom. My sister stayed home that day and insisted that she was fine and I should go to school, reluctantly, I did.

I walk into school, holding back tears thinking of what I just witnessed. I walk to my locker and put my stuff away, as soon as I close the door josh is there.
"Fuck off Josh"
"What did you just say to me?"
"I said fuck off" He bangs on my locker, catching the attention of everyone around us.
"If you say that one more time, I swear to god I will beat you up in front of the whole school"
"Yeah okay 'tough guy', if you say so" He then storms off pushing everyone out of his way. When I walk into homeroom my eyes immediately look over at Kay. She's beautiful, just sitting there daydreaming. She catches me looking at her and just smiles, god, she's perfect.

As I sit down I see some guys in football jackets sitting on the desks. Those are some of the guys that always bully me, none of them look at me so I think that maybe they'll ignore me today. I was wrong, the biggest one there walks over to me and just pushes me off of my chair. He looks over at his buddy's and laughs. Out of the corner of my eye I see someone run over to us, it's Kay. She pushes the guy out of the way, kneels down and helps me up. She walks me over to her desk while holding my hand.
"Are you ok? Are you hurt?"
"Yeah I'm fine, I think by body's used to this by now" Then, unexpectedly, she pulls me in for a hug. She smells so nice, like walking in a garden, lavender I think. The hug only lasts a few seconds but it was good enough for me to have tons of butterflies.
"You sure you're ok?"
"Yeah I'm good, it just stung a little at first"
"Okay good, hey, you wanna sit with me at lunch today?"
"Um, yeah, sure" On the outside I sounded bored. But on the inside, I was freaking out.
