Chapter 18

Alex's POV

I'm really glad that Kayla found me, who knows what would've happened if she didn't. It was only a matter of time before I had a full on panic attack.

When Eddie told me about his relationship with Samantha, I flipped. I have a lot of bad memories with her. We were friends for a month before we grew apart.

It's now 5:30 and I'm awake, thinking about everything, while kayla is here, sleeping unknowingly about everything wrong. We have to get up for school in half an hour, can't wait to face Eddie, and probably Samantha.

I really want to trust Kayla, but I can't. Partly because I don't believe that anyone-let alone the most popular girl at school- could love me. The other part is just because I've had people hurt me in the past, and so because of that, I have trust issues.

Time goes by really slowly while you're thinking. It's only 5:35. Maybe I should get a head start and get ready.

I get out of bed very slowly and carefully, so I don't wake up Kayla.

"Mhmm" Shit, is she waking up?

I stop moving.

"Alex... what are you doing?" Crap.

"I'm just starting to get ready for school, you can stay there for another twenty minutes if you want. You have time."

"Let's just stay home. I don't want to deal with school, and I'm sure you don't either. Caiden's cool, he'll be fine with it."

My dad will yell at me if I ditch school. But this is Kayla we're talking about.

"Okay, let's stay home. What do you want to do?"

"Well, I don't know about you, but I want to sleep." And she falls back onto the pillow, out like a light.

Guess I should go tell Caiden and Gerald that we're staying here. I wonder if they're up.

I'm already standing, so I walk over to the door. As I was about to open it, the door knob starts moving slowly. I look around quickly and grab the closest thing, a penny board.

I stand behind the door, waiting for it to open. Someone peeks their head in, it's too dark to see. When their whole body is in, I hit them in the stomach.

"OW, what was that for?" Gerald.

"Oh my god I'm so sorry, I thought you were a murderer. I prepared myself."

"Well, I'm not a murderer. I came in here to wake you's up for school. Which I see you're already up." He's still holding his stomach, I must be stronger than I thought.

"About that, we're staying home. Neither of us feel like dealing with school so we figured that we didn't have to." I know Gerald is a bit stricter than Caiden, so I have to be careful with my wording.

"Hey... honey what's going on?" I guess Caiden's up now.

"Nothing sweetie, Kayla and Alex are staying home today. Go back to bed."

Caiden doesn't say anything, he drags his body back to their room.

"I guess you's can stay home, especially after whatever happened to you."

I was so happy I hugged him. He was very surprised at first, but he hugged back.

"Are you feeling better, Alex?"

"Yeah, actually. Kayla is pretty good at dealing with me."

"Good. Now you go back to bed and get some rest. Me and Caiden will plan an amazing day out for you two."

"Thanks Gerald."

Then he shuts the door, I put the penny board down, and I go back to bed.

I snuggle in next to Kayla, and fall asleep just as fast as she did.

"Can you tell us now?"

"No, it's a surprise"

"Ughhh" Me and Kayla groan simultaneously.

Caiden and Gerald planned a surprise day out for me and Kayla. I have an idea where we're going, but I'm probably wrong.

"Okay guys, take off the blindfolds. We're here."

I slowly take it off to reveal-

"DISNEY WORLD!!"

"Haha, yes Kayla we're at Disney world. Only for today, so you better make it count. You have until ten thirty pm to have the best day ever."

It's only noon! This is going to be amazing.

"And before you's offer, we already paid for the tickets, so don't think about it."

"Okay, fine with me."

We all laugh.

We run out of the car, and run to the gate. The line is really long, the line for the rides are going to be even longer.

"Don't worry guys, we got VIP tickets. We can skip everyone in line for rides, but we have to wait on line here."

It takes about half an hour to get to the front. It was worth it though. When we got to the front, I recognized the person there.

"Sam? Is that you?"

"Oh my god Alex! It's been so long. I've missed you, we should hang out again sometime soon."

"Of course. What's it been? Two years?"

"Yeah. Wait, I'm still working. Hello ma'm may I see your tickets?"

"Haha. Here you go."

"Thank you, have a great day."

I haven't seen Sam in so long. I didn't even know she moved here. Last time we hung out, I looked a lot different.

"Who was she? You two seem to be good friends."

"She was an old friend, back in Minnesota. She was one of the few who really wanted to hang out with me. I was devastated when I found out she had to move, she never told me where though."

Kayla's just been nodding this whole time, staring off into space. I wonder what she's thinking about.

"So you's were just good friends? Nothing else?"

So she's jealous.

"I didn't know you got jealous so easily. And yes, we were just friends. Don't worry, I wouldn't even leave you for Felicia day."

I pecked her on the lips and was interrupted by Gerald and Caiden.

"Aww" they said together.

"Come on guys, let us be." I said, hoping that they'll get the hint.

"Oh, okay. We are gonna go home, and do some things. We'll be at the front entrance at ten thirty. Be there."

"Sir yes sir" Kayla did the military salute, which made us all laugh. Then they left.

"You ready to go have some fun?"

"You betcha" I was so ready.
