Nicolette

I quickly threw the last of my things into my suitcase, stuffing as much as I possible could inside of it.

Ok just a few things here, a few there and a couple of other major necessities that I couldn't live without.

Than I dug under my mattress and pulled out some money I had put away and threw it into my bag.

With this it should be enough to get both of us out of here safe and sound, we could go anywhere as long we kept the spending to a minimum.

I finally closed the lid of my suitcase and pushed all of my weight down on top of it and zipped it shut.

Marriage with someone you don't love doesn't count as a true marriage, right? So leaving him should not matter too much.

"We can finally get out of here Nicolette. And we can finally have the normal and happy life that we've always wanted to have." I whispered as I looked at myself in the mirror.

An old t-shirt from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with a pair of ripped dark wash jeans and a pair of black tall boots.

I went to my vanity and picked up some hair elastic and threw my hair into a messy bun.

"Let's get out of here." I whispered.

Night had fallen a couple hours previously and our time to meet was soon. He would meet me at the front gate of the mansion and we'd escape. I could be free.

I turned off all my lights one by one and sat down on the edge of my bed. I waited ten minutes before slowly standing up and grabbing my bag.

That should be enough time for people to see that I was or they could think I was sound asleep and the servants would go to bed.

I picked up my suitcase off the floor and slowly made my way to the door. Carefully I peeled the door open and walked down the hallway, rolling my luggage silently along behind me as I went.

Gingerly I brought my things down the stairs, and flinched a few times when I hit it off the corner of the stair and it echoed throughout the quiet and silent house.

I made it to the front door and opened the door. I set my baggage out the front door near the edge and it tumbled down the front stairs.

I hissed as I quickly shut the door and barreled down the stairs to grab my bag.

I had to get out of here quickly. Before I was. . .

"Hey!" I turned to see Chase standing on the landing by the door. A rifle in hand and an angry gleam in his eye. "What are you doing Nicolette?" He yelled.

"I'm getting out of here!" I screamed, my eyes filling with hot and angry tears. "I can't be with you anymore! And it hurts me to be stuck with you and your player ways and your egotistical ruling self."

"How do you think I feel? Being stuck with you isn't my cup of tea to say the least. But you are MY wife and I plan to keep it that way." He growled.

I saw the lights at the end of the driveway and I knew he saw it too. I turned and ran, dropping my bags and waving my arm in the air as I ran.

"Go! Go now!" I screamed.

Samuel climbed out of the car, a huge smile on his face as he waved at me.

"No no no! Chase is coming! Go now!" I yelled. He looked behind me and saw Chase probably stepping off the porch and slowly walking down the driveway towards him.

I got close to the car and stopped to see Chase halfway up the drive. "Samuel please. I beg of you." I whispered

He shook his head and walked around the car. "I won't leave without a fight this time." my hair was now hanging out of its bun and was flopping around in the warm breeze.

"No." I whispered.

"Hey! Chase let her go! You don't need her anymore!" Samuel yelled

"She's my wife so I do need her you punk," he cocked his gun,

"No!" I screamed. I ran forward as his finger hit the trigger.

A gun shot echoed throughout the darkness of the night. And as I felt liquid run through my fingers and the stars shining above, I realized that the rich always get away with everything and I cried.

I cried for him, for us, for all that we had lost and all that I now had left, and how what I had left didn't love me and would love me more if I were where the one who truly cared is now.
