The party we were at was filled with tons of slow music and couples from riches with a glass of champagne in their hands as they chatted aimlessly of politics and other economic affairs like trade and partnerships.

It was a snooze fest if I ever had seen one.

What did people see in these events that was so great? There was nothing to do and everyone was more boring than watching grass grow or paint dry.

Simpletons.

I picked up a glass from a waiter, in their bright red shirts, black vests and black ties which didn't look all that spectacular like the hostess claimed, as he walked by. I swirled the glass and let the champagne swirl before I put the glass to my lips. It took seconds to drown the glass as I tipped my head back.

Why does it take an hour for people to finish a drink? The glass is so small.

I put my glass on an empty tray and decided I needed to head out for some fresh air. The stuffiness and the fairness of these people infuriated me so much that I just couldn't and wouldn't be able to stand around here and listen to this.

I started weave my way through the ballroom and head towards the terrace.

Suddenly my idiotic husband grabbed hold of me and pulled me to him. I looked at him with anger in my eyes and a smile on my face.

If I did anything to ruin his image it wouldn't take him long to have my head on a platter or hanging over the fireplace.

"Hello dear." he said, a look of warning flashing through his eyes. I forgot, he wanted to invest in the couples company that now stood in front of us.

"Hello darling." I replied. He pulled me slightly closer.

This arse didn't want to just invest, he wanted them to put a trust in us and swindle them in a way that we would get more money than they would get out of the deal, and the way he would be able to do it would make it look like they were actually coming out of a bargain.

He always did this, he did this to so many people who didn't deserve to make a rich man richer, this should've been coming from a figure like Robin Hood or maybe the green arrow in the comics.

Chase always made the richest even richer and the rich poorer. Anyone below us he wanted to use, until we would be able to get more money to get above the people above us, so that soon he would be able to do the exact same thing to them.

He was the worst person to ever walk this entire earth.

As he continued to talk business on the most boring level that id ever heard him, I observed the room around me. Nothing seemed to look out of the ordinary, until I looked out toward the balcony.

"Chase, I'm going to excuse myself. Things in here are a bit too stuffy." He nodded. I gave him a kiss on the cheek and I saw a hint of approval in his eyes before I walked away.

Play the part of a happy wife with a happy life. That's always what it was. An act, a rouse.

I walked toward the terrace and opened the doors before slipping outside.

"Janice!" I called. I walked around the corner to the other section of the terrace and behind the coverage of plants that sat there, Janice, my dear friend, and Charles, one of our friends husbands were kissing in the bushes.

"Janice." I hissed as I stepped forward and took hold of her ear and dragged her away from him. "What is wrong with you?! What have you drunk that has made you try and take another women's man?!" I hissed at her.
