I have always wanted to be an author
Writing has always been an ambition of mine
But at age fourteen, I couldn't write,
It seemed that I could never find the time.
Frustration and anxiety, it all came too soon.
Crumpled up papers thrown halfway across the room.
Spilled cups of coffee ran down the floor.
My thoughts were all scrambled and had ran out the door.
"I just don't know." oh, how I didn't.
"I really can't do this." oh, how I couldn't.
It all makes sense; I know why now.
You can't make yourself write; no one knows how.
No one can write at age fourteen.
Just like no one can live inside a dream.
To be a writer, your heart has to have lived and died.
To be a writer, your voice has to have loved and lied.
Poets aren't made of dreamers; they're made of recycled words and sewn-together parts.
This is because one cannot experience the heavens by only longing for the stars.
You must trudge up there, through the expanses of moons, and stardust.
You must lose faith in the words,
And find them for who you truly are.
