Hermione
We had all boarded the Hogwarts Express, and got lucky enough to get a compartment to ourselves. Funny, this is the exact same compartment where Ron and I met in our first years...but it was different this time. Kind of a strange feeling, because last time I sat here with him, I was disgusted by his eating habits, and that incredibly stupid spell he used on Scabbers, but looking back on it he was adorable trying to figure it out. He got frustrated and nearly beat the rat, and I just chuckle to my self at the memory now. We sat down, and the whistle blew. We all leaned out the windows to wave goodbye to the Weasleys, and their figures started to get smaller and smaller as the train left the station.
A few minutes later, Ginny came to join us. Yea right! She came to see Harry of course I thought to myself. She said hello to us and sat next to Harry. He put his arm around Ginny, and shortly after he did this Ron did the same and put his arm around me. A few minutes passed as we talked about how relieved we all are now, since the war is over, and talked about each other's summers. Harry said that he had gone to Grimauld Place for the summer to restore it. I was glad to hear this, since it was old, dusty, and very dark. Harry said he had cleaned it out, dusted up a bit, and gave Kreecher a better living space in his cabinet. "Why didn't you get him out of the cabinet?" I asked. Harry said, "He insisted he stay. He says it would be better for him as its done him good for as long as he's lived there." I understood why Kreecher had not wanted to move, but something else itched my mind. "How come you didn't return to The Burrow, Harry?" Harry replied, "After what all that had happened in the war, I figured that you all needed your space." He gestured to Ron and Ginny. "So, I thought 'why not fix up Grimauld Place?' Considering Privet Drive was out of the question. I needed somewhere to live, so that's where I went."
After at least another several minutes of chatting each other's ears off, Neville knocked on the compartment door. We gestured for him to come in and sit down with us, and he did so. Trailing behind him however, was Luna as well. I had forgotten what Harry had told me about Neville and Luna after the war...about how Neville had to tell her something that needed to be said, thinking they'd all be dead by the next day. Neville sat next to me and Luna next to Ginny, across from Neville. He looked at Luna the way Harry looks at Ginny. Like she was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. Like he was the luckiest man in the world to have her in his life. Ron looked at me like that sometimes, but I could only see half the emotion in his eyes-almost as if he was uncertain of his feelings-but I shook off the thought. I didn't want to over think anything.
I looked out the window and saw the school just faintly in the distance. "Guys, I can see the school. We should go get our robes on." I said. They all nodded in agreement and all the boys left the compartment. I helped Luna secure the compartment so no one could enter or peak through, and we got into our robes. Then we lifted the charms on the door and windows to let the boys in when they're done getting dressed. But it wasn't one of them that stood in the doorway...
It was Draco. Oh great what does he want? I thought to myself. But he just simply said "Hello Granger." I hesitated for a moment, but I replied "Hello Malfoy..." He didn't call me 'Mudblood' for once in his life, and I wasn't sure how to react to that. But soon after he said that Ron came in pushing him out of the way as he did. He came by my side and put his arm around me. "What are you doing here, Malfoy?" He said to Draco. He didn't sound happy at all to see him. "I just came by and saw Granger chatting with the Weasley girl and Loony Lovegood. So I decided to say hello." Draco replied. He sounded calm and cool, but he had a kind of sadness to his voice when Ron spoke to him. It was strange, because he was very calm, cool and collected when he spoke to me. But I didn't really question it that much after what he'd been through last year. Later Harry and Neville came up behind Draco. "Is there a problem here?" Harry asked. He looked straight at Draco when he said this, getting his wand at the ready in his robe pocket, just incase. "No. There is not a problem here. Right weasel?" Replied Draco. Ron just glared at him, like he was plotting revenge or something. "Yea. Everything's jolly." Ron said. "Alright then. So, to prevent trouble, how about you go back to your own compartment Malfoy?" Harry said, looking Draco straight in the eye. "Yea. Sod off Malfoy." Ron added. And so Draco took his leave.
"I can see the school...we're getting close. Five minutes is my guess." Ginny had said from behind. I almost forgot everyone but Harry, Draco, and Ron were there for a minute. Luna nodded in agreement and started getting her several editions of The Quibbler while Ginny grabbed her Pigmy Puff. A few minutes later we can to a slow stop, and the whistle blew.
