Chapter 1: Thin Thread

I sit there, holding my fiancés cold hand, I've been in hospital for a week now, Maliki, Jayden and Brooke are hardly holding on, I visit them every day, it seems like day after day their breathing slows down, it scares me to death, if only I was there to help her down the stairs! It would've been harder for her to do normal things!.

Mackenzie and Mrs Everdeen run in and I stand and hug Mackenzie really tight, she may be twelve but is really wise, they run in everyday with food for all of us to eat

"Any signs of improvement?" Mrs Everdeen asks walking beside her daughters bed and I shake my head

"Neither with the triplets, they're all hanging on a thin thread" I say and Mrs Everdeen sighs

"Im sorry Mrs-"

"How many times do I need to tell you! It's Cathy" she says

"I'm sorry Cathy, if I was just there when she was coming down the stairs, this would've never happened" I say

"Peeta, you can never blame yourself, Katniss wouldn't want that" Cathy says and I smile and walk over to her and hug her and I feel tears roll down

"We were going to get married, be a family but now she's in a coma that she might not wake up from" I say starting to cry on her shoulder

"Shhh it's alright, she's a strong girl, I know my daughter too well" she says and I brake away from the hug

"Would you guys like to see them?" I ask and they nod, I lead them to the baby intensive care and to the special room with babies like mine, I take them to three different incubators with my precious barely breathing children

"My my, they look so fragile" Cathy says

"Yeah Brooke only weighed 3.4" I say, she's the one who is more likely not to make it and that's what I'm worried about, loosing my little girl

"Well I'll stay here, Mackenzie will go back to Katniss' room and you go home, get changed, have a shower, eat something, get some sleep" Cathy says

"I can't, what if something bad happens? Or Katniss wakes up and I'm not there?" I question

"Just go, we'll call, I promise" and I nod and I walk out trusting their grandmother, I drive home and unlock our door and our cat Malcolm comes

"Hey Mal" I say patting him, I re fill his food ball and water ball  and I go upstairs, take a long shower, I dress in clean summer clothes seeing as it's summer here in Panam, I walk back downstairs and hop right back in my car and drive back to the hospital.
