Chapter 4: Like It Never Happened/One Question Remaining

~4 Months Later~

"Ah!" Brooke squeals throwing her toy and giggles. Peeta and I have decided to have the wedding next year in the Summer due to the incident that happened, we couldn't exactly get married... As for our babies, their growing up healthy and as they should be, of course still smaller than a usual 4 month old but their healthy and have check ups each month, they have one today in fact and I'm still nervous.

"Well Mr and Mrs Mellark. Your children are as healthy and stable as can be" Dr Williams says and I smile at our children playing on the floor and Peeta grabs my hand intertwining it and I smile

"Have your children had any... Difficulties since their last check up?" He asks

"They usually breathe stop for a little bit and start again"

"Okay that's normal, it should get better when they reach about 3 or 4" he explains

"Well thank you doctor, it means a lot"

"It was nice seeing you" he says as we walk out.

Peeta and I laugh as we play with our children watching our boys annoy their sister making her scream and soon there's a knock on the door I stand up and answer it and I jump. Joannah has a bruised eye and blood lip and a round belly

"Katniss. I need your help" she says teary eyed

"Come in!" I say and the next thing that happens is she faints and blood is dripping down her leg

"Peeta! Peeta!" I yell and he runs to me

"Oh my god" he says

"We need to get her to the hospital" I say and he nods scooping her up off the floor while I stay at home with the kids and call for my mom and Mackenzie to come over and for mom to drop me off at the hospital.

I play with Peetas fingers as he has an arm around me and I have my head laid on his shoulder and I sigh as we've been here for over three hours and have heard nothing... That's till her doctor walks up to us

"I'm very sorry to say but your friend chose to save her child instead which means she passed away... She wants you two to have her daughter" he says

"But we're hardly even parents. We've only been looking after our own children for a few months" I admit

"Well do you know anyone else who might want her?" And I think Annie would... After she had Flynn they said she wasn't able to conceive another child

"Yeah. My friend Annie would love to" I say and he nods and I immediately call Annie and Fin.

"What are you guys calling her?" I smile at Annie holding their daughter well Joannahs daughter

"Eloise April Odair" she replies and I smile again

"Thank you guys. Thank you so much" Finnick thanks

"Well you both deserve her. Now your family is complete" Peeta says and we all leave with one question running through my head. What happened to my old high school best friend?.
