Chapter 3: Happy Again

"Peeta" she croaks and I smile and hug her

"I thought I lost you, I thought you left us" I sniff and she strokes my hair

"I would never leave you" she croaks and kisses the top of my head, I brake away from the hug, wiping away the stray tears on my face, I press the nurse button and a whole pile of doctors and nurses rush in, checking her blood pressure, heart rate

"Your blood pressure is back to normal, heart rate is stable" the doctor says as all the others walk out

"That's great doctor but I want to see my children" Katniss croaks

"Of course, well just get you a wheelchair" he says, he walks out, leaving us alone for a little bit, I fill a glass with cold water and give it too her, she drinks it and her face becomes relieved

"That feels so much better" she says, her voice coming back and I smile, soon a nurse wheels in a wheelchair and I help Katniss carefully on it and start wheeling her down the hallways and she keeps her hand on mine.

I stop at the triplets incubators and take a seat next to Katniss who has silent tears running down her face

"What's wrong?" I ask and she wipes them away

"Its just I can't help but feel that I did this, I walked down those stairs after I knew I wasn't capable" she sobs and I hug her softly as she cries on my chest

"You didn't know" I say

"My babies!" She sobs and I rub her back

"They'll be okay, I promise" I say reassuringly

"Maybe" she sniffs

"Can you take me out of here" she says and I sigh and nod, I push her down the hallway, not talking at all.

~3 Weeks Later~

"Baby, can you just talk to me" I say as she lays on her side, not facing me,

"Can you just leave me alone, I don't want to talk to anyone and I don't want your comfort" she snaps and I feel my heart tare in two

"I'll just uh visit the babies" I say and she doesn't answer and I just walk out, head hung down, she hasn't talked to anyone, not even Mackenzie and Katniss always speaks with her, she just doesn't get that I'm hurting too, their my babies too but she can't see that and I wish she could, I've technically lost her already.

Katniss POV

"Katniss, I know why your not talking to anyone and I understand but Peeta, he doesn't deserve this! This stayed in this hospital for 6 weeks! And after a day of you waking up you don't talk to him! Their his babies too! He's hurting! So why don't you pay attention and care for someone other then yourself!" Mackenzie yells but I don't answer

"Your pathetic" she spits and walks out and I start to cry, she's right, I am pathetic, Peeta doesn't deserve this but it's hard for me, my babies are having trouble breathing on their own because of me, soon I hear someone walk in

"Katniss?" I hear Peetas voice and I turn so I can see him and I extend my arms towards him and he smiles climbing in bed with me, saying soothing words

"I'm sorry, I should've known that you were hurting too" I say and he rubs my shoulders

"Nothing too forgive" he replies and I smile and fall asleep in Peetas comforting arms.

~2 Weeks Later~

"Mr Mellark and Ms Everdeen, we've come to notify you about your children" our doctor says and I look to Peeta with worried eyes

"I'm happy to say that your babies are breathing nicely on their own" the doctor says and Katniss screams and hugs me and I spin her around and before we know it, three nurses wheel in baby incubators and I smile walking over and picking up one of my sons, first born and he opens his eyes, blue

"Hey Maliki" I say and Peeta picks up our daughter, Brooke and I hold our second born, Jayden, Peeta stands next to me and see all of our children with their eyes open and I smile and look to Peeta and we kiss, we're happy again.
