Grey Rain And A Blue Hurricane

After all this, the graffiti, the books, that familiar gap in the fence; you'd think that's all it would take. For me to love her.
Unlike Kennedy, I live in a world of reality. Black and white, right and wrong.
Besides, I didn't know anything about her.
She might be a different person outside of our world.
So when approached at school by my most popular acquaintance, asking for me to shun her; you'd understand my dilemma.
"Josh?"
I raised my head out of its daze and faced her.
"Juliet?"
She tossed a cloud of brown hair and batted her long dark eyelashes. Inside I was hyperventilating- the most beautiful and popular girl in school was talking to me.
She didn't give me time to reflect on it.
"Josh, I've known you for like, forever. And everyone is really concerned about you too.."
I shook my head.
"Concerned about what?"
She examined her perfectly manicured nails.
"You've been bunking off school with Kylie all the time and we think she's nothing but, like weirdness and trouble."
This caught me off guard.
"Kennedy?"
"It doesn't matter, I'm just here to tell you that there's two sides; us, the people you've known for years and that are like awesome, or her. It's your decision."
And with another flip of her hair she sashayed away.
My shoulders slumped and I kicked the autumn leaves.
This decision should be simple.
Yet abandoning her feels like giving in to the grey. Like leaving freedom and dream world and landing back on earth with a bump.
My life shouldn't orbit around her.
She shouldn't have this effect on me.
And she means nothing to me.
Nothing.
Grey rain or blue hurricane?
I'll take my chances in the rain.
