I woke up the next morning to the smell of breakfast.  I got up and looked over and saw Rachelle was already up.  Why would she be up, she was the one drinking?  I guess she is used to the party scene.  If it was me I would of been throwing up in the bathroom and then laying on the cool floor for support.  I went downstairs and that was when my question was answered.  Rachelle and Josh were at the kitchen table, and their mom was the one cooking breakfast.  But she did not look too happy.

"What the hell were you thinking Rachelle?" her mom said.

"I was just having some fun.  No one else does it.  They are too perfect.  I wanted to go and be with people who did like to have fun." she said weakly.

It was obvious she definately was sick still.  She looked pale and held her head as her mother lectured her about her drinking last night.  Served her right.  However I still felt bad that she had to go through this.

"Oh so that makes it okay!?" her mother yelled.

"No.." she mumbled.

Her mother took another sip of her coffee.

"And Josh your the oldest why didn't you stop her from going to the party?" she asked.

"I don't know." he said simply.

"You don't know?  You better find an answer in less than ten seconds." she snapped angrily.

I was too curious and scared to go all the way down the stairs into the kitchen.  I decided to easdrop some more.

"Look mom she's a teenager.  They party.  Big deal." Josh said.

"Not when your little sister comes home drunk!"

"It's not my fault she drank!" he said.

I decided to come downstairs so this little arguement would not get too extreme.  Mrs. Thompson saw me and smiled.

"Good morning Mari." she said to me.

"Morning." I said, "Hey you guys."

"Hey." they said in unison.

I got up and went to the fridge.  I bent over looking for the orange juice and then I heard a shatter.  I snapped around and Josh had accidentally dropped his glass.

"Great." Mrs. Thompson said.

"My bad.  I'll get it." he said.

He walked to the side of the fridge to get the broom while I reached up in the cabinet for the cups.

"Josh." Rachelle said.

"Huh?" he asked.

"Stop checking out my best friend will you." she said getting up from the table.

I started to blush and continued to poor my juice.  Josh hid behind his hair and went to clean the mess.  Rachelle grabbed some toast and was exiting the kitchen.

"We'll finish this talk later." said Mrs Thompson before Rachelle left the kitchen.

Rachelle kept on walking, just wanting to sleep.  Eventually Mrs. Thompson got up from the table to go upstairs too.

"Mari there is food on the stove if you are hungry." she said to me.

"Thank you Mrs. T." I said nicely.

"No problem.  Help yourself."

She went upstairs after finishing her cup of coffee, leaving me and Josh in the kitchen alone.  I watched him as he cleaned up the rest of the glass and throw it away.  I got up and made me a plate of bacon with a pancake.  I went to go to the cabinet to grab the syrup and I ran right into Josh.

"Sorry." we both said awkwardly.

I stepped to go around him to the right, only he made the same attempt.  I then stepped to go left and he too followed me.  I giggled in our awkward situation.

"Sorry." he said apologetic.

"It's okay." I said.

I went around him, brushing my body across him.  He stilled very stiff as I did this.  I gave him an apologetic smile after this.  He knodded.  I sat at the table and poured the syrup and he too sat down to finish his breakfast.  Once again, we ate in silence.  Only this time it did not feel so awkward for some reason.
