Josh was right. I was still worried about this whole entire situation. School, my relationship, the baby! I didn't know how to handle it, what could happen, how the future would be, anything. I was so upset because for the first time in my life, I felt lost. I always knew how I wanted my life to go, and what I wanted to do and be. Yes, I wanted to be a mother...but not at 16.
Josh pulled up to the drive way. He stopped the car and cut the engine off. He was about to get out and open the door when I grabbed his arm.
"What is it?" he asked.
"Um...I can't do this." I said.
"Do what?"
"I'm not ready to tell my parents about the baby." I said.
Josh was silent for a couple of seconds.
"I understand." he said.
"Really? You are not mad?" In asked shocked.
"No. why would I be?"
"well...I don't know." I said slowly.
"Babe I'm always down with what you do. And when I'm not, you know my voice will be heard." he said chuckling.
I smiled and kind of laughed too.
"Yeah you are right." I said playing with my hands.
"Okay. We can do this some other time."
"Okay. Thank you."
I leaned over and gave him a sweet peck. When I leaned back his face froze.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Rachelle."
I turned and saw Rachelle coming out of the house.
"Do you think she saw us?" I asked worriedly.
"I don't know." he said shrugging his shoulders.
Rachelle came down the front steps and to the car. I rolled down the window to face her.
"Hey you guys. What's up?" she asked happily.
Josh and I looked at each other with relief. She did not see anything, which lifted my mood a good 99 percent.
"Nothing much. Josh just took me to the doctor." I said.
"Really?" she asked kind of shocked.
"Yeah. I wanted to tell him." I said to her.
I knew that was the question lerking in her head. She would want to know why of all people I would tell Josh.
"Oh okay. So what did the doctor say?" she asked.
"Well he said that I was almost two months and I need to take medicine and have frequent check ups." I told her.
"Wow. It sounds so serious." she said.
"Yeah I guess so." I said.
We all were in an awkward silence for about a minute. A gay child was going to be born. I decided to break it and leave.
"Well I'm tired so I'm going to get some rest. Thanks for taking me Josh." I said smiling.
He smiled back.
"Anytime." he said.
Rachelle moved back so I can get out the car and I hugged her goodbye.
"See yah." she said.
I walked to my house and opened and then closed the door.
"Hi Leomari." said my dad.
He was sitting down reading the newspaper.
