CAL:
I watch Kayla, waiting nervously for her answer. I knew she would say yes, of course...but still, having to wait made it quite nerve wrecking.
What if she suddenly decided that she didn’t like the whole ostentatious lifestyle?
“Cal, you are the sweetest-” she begins before she’s cut off by the door swinging open.
Emma walks in, looking sleepy, clutching a little brown teddy. “I heard voices,” she mumbles, rubbing her eyes.
“Go back to sleep Emma!” Kayla practically begs.
“Why?” the eight year old asks suspiciously, narrowing her eyes.
“Please Emma! Cal and I are in the middle of something!” Kayla explains.
Emma stands her ground, looking thoughtful for a while. Then, instead of leaving the room, she walks over to the Jacuzzi and looks in. Her face scrunches up in concentration as she tries to read the sentence.
I know the moment she does get what is written because her entire face lights up.
“I want to be your girlfriend Cal!” she squeals, launching herself at me.
Kayla stares at her little sister open-mouthed. Her eyes betray a cross between annoyance and laughter. But somehow, I think the annoyance wins over.
I shrug. “Hey, you took just a wee bit too long baby,” I tease.
I carry Emma and bounce her around a little. She giggles madly, holding onto my neck.
“Time for bed,” I finally announce and she gives me her adorable pout. “I’ll be back baby,” I whisper to Kayla, giving her a quick peck on the lips.

“And then, the prince rescued Princess Emma from the clutches of the evil vegetable king and they lived happily ever after,” I mumble.
I peer down at Emma and she’s fast asleep. I can already feel my eyelids beginning to droop. Here comes the jet lag.
I yawn, stretching my arms and shuffle back to the spa. I throw the door open only to find Kayla huddled up in a corner, snoring lightly.
I smile to myself and sit down beside her.

“Are they seriously asleep?” Sean’s voice floats over to me.
I feel Kayla shift beside me but I try my hardest to keep my eyes firmly shut. I need sleep!
