CAL:

I squirm out of Keith’s grasp and storm over to where Amy is dancing with Gerard.

“You are vile and a complete beach!” I hiss, through my teeth.

“And you, my dear king, are extremely hot, especially when you’re all mad like this,” she purrs, grabbing my arm.

I twist it out of her grasp and push her back. “You will never, ever do anything to hurt Kayla again, do you hear me?! If I ever catch wind that you tried to hurt my girl, I will make your life a living hell. Don’t forget all the things you told me when we were dating, all those intimate secrets,” I whisper angrily.

Amy pales but nods her head, for once behaving like a normal human being would. Good. At least that’s one thing out of the way. Now, I need to find my little Kayla.

I push through the crowd, murmuring vaguely to the congratulations and the claps on the back. Finally, I get to the end of the hall, and I still can’t find Kayla. Anywhere.

That’s when I see Ben, hunched over, looking utterly miserable.

Sighing to myself, I lower myself down and sit on the ground beside him. “Hey man,” I murmur, giving his shoulder a reassuring squeeze.

“Hey,” he mumbles back, his voice strained. His eyes are all bloodshot and he looks…basically terrible.

“I’m so, so sorry it ended like that,” I mumble softly, truthfully.

“I…have never been so embarrassed, in my life,” he admits weakly.

“Hey! Don’t say that! You can never be embarrassed about who you are. You know that, don’t you? Who cares if idiots like Amy laugh? You don’t need people like her! I’m here for you,” I reassure him.

“You shouldn’t be seen with me Cal…rumours will start,” he mumbles darkly.

“You’re my friend Ben. I don’t give a damn about rumours. They can call me gay for all I care. But that’s my point. Just because people say something about you…doesn’t mean that it defines who you are,” I murmur.

“You’re right,” he stammers, taking a shaky breath. “And thanks Cal…you were still the first person I told…and…well, thank you for keeping my secret,” he murmurs softly.

“Anytime, bro, anytime,” I assure him, standing up then pulling him to his feet. “Shall we go find Sean? I’m assuming Kay is in the suite…she kinda wants many people around,” I mumble, cheeks heating up.

“Kinky,” Ben mutters, smiling slightly.

“Tell me about it! But yeah, she wants her brothers around, and their…umm…”

“You can say the word date, Cal. I’m cool with it,” he assures me.

I grin embarrassedly. “Yeah, dates. So I guess you’re coming too?”

“I guess…if Sean ever talks to me again,” he mumbles miserably.

“He will, he will,” I promise, leading Ben out of the hall and pulling out my cell. If I were just humiliated, where would I go?

Bar!

Half an hour later, I press the card-key into place and the door to the suite opens. Sam, Kayla and Ivan sit huddled up on a couch, talking heatedly.

“Hey,” I mumble, hoping not to interrupt.

“Cal!” Kayla squeals, launching herself into my arms.
