CAL:
I walked into the florist with Keith, Jordan and James hot on my tail.
"Dude, I do not get you! You have her wrapped around your little finger. You don't have to do the whole corsage thing," James mutters.
"And that's exactly why all the girls you end up with suck! I love Kayla. I'm doing this right," I mumble walking down the aisles of flowers. How the hell am I supposed to pick one?!
"So how does this work man? Does the flower match your suit? Should it match her dress?" Keith wonders out loud.
Damn it! I knew I should have found out more about this.
"Shit," I cuss silently. "I have no idea! Her dress is blue and mine's a dark olive green thing?" I try.
"Dude, you've been spending way too much time with her! Who the hell knows the different names for colours?!" Jordan demands, guffawing at me.
"Shut it!" I hiss.
He's right though. A month ago, I would have just called the suit green. I hope you know how much I've changed for you Kayla Thomas!
I walk over to the counter where a pretty blonde sits, popping some gum. "Hey there, I need some help," I mumble.
"Oh! Cal Cafferty!" she murmurs, jumping off her seat and smoothening down her shirt. "How can I help you?"
"I know it's really, really stupid...but how does the whole corsage thing work? Should it match my dates dress or should it match my suit?" I ask timidly.
"Definitely her dress!" she informs me helpfully. "How about I help you pick one out?" she suggests.
"Umm, yeah, that would be great actually. She's wearing this blue dress..." I mumble unhelpfully.
"What shade of blue?" the girl probes, smiling.
"See...that's the problem...I don't really remember. Could you just show me any blue arrangements you have?" I try.
"Blue...hmmm," she murmurs thoughtfully, suddenly jogging off to the back of the store. She returns a couple of minutes later with a huge catalogue in her hands. She flips the pages furiously and pushes it over to me.
Keith, Jordan and James crowd around me, peering over my shoulder at the pictures. Great...absolutely, freaking great! There are so many different colours!
"Dude, you're majorly screwed," Jordan informs me gleefully.
I glare at him and pour over the book finally deciding on one at the bottom of the page. It's got a couple of shades of blue, and chances are at least one would be right. And if it's supposed to be contrast, well there's some purple too.
I point it out for the girl and she 'oohs' over it, swooning. "That's the most beautiful corsage ever!" she gushes. "It has blue-dyed roses and daisy! She'll love it!" she practically squeals.
I chuckle at the reaction. I can only hope Kayla is half this happy when she gets it. "Okay...so how does this work? Can I like come get it on Saturday afternoon?"
"Yeah! Totally! You can pay now, I'll give you the receipt and you just need to bring it by on Saturday," she explains simply.
"Awesome. So how much is the damage?"
"It's expensive," she warns me softly.
"No worries about how much it is," I murmur, sliding my credit card over.
She smiles and takes it over to the cashier.

"Okay Mr Romantic, what next?" James asks, climbing into my car.
