Chapter 4:
"How is she?" I hear my grandma's concern voice say
"She's just had an anxiety attack, let her have a little rest and she'll feel better by tomorrow" another woman's voice answers.
I opened my eyes and the first person I see was my grandma looking down at me with concern written all over her face.
Then memories came flooding in my head. My uncle.
I try sitting up, but my grandma stop me and gently pushes me back to the bed.
The bed.
This is not my bed.
This is not my room.
It doesn't look like a hospital either. The room had wooden walls made of mahogany and the ceiling had a big crystal chandelier hanging on it.
"Where am I, where's Jeremy?" My voice was cracking a little bit, making it quite hard to speak.
My grandma looks down, but before she could say anything. A voice cuts her off.
"Can I speak to my daughter alone for a while Shannon?" I couldn't see who said it but my grandma nods at the person kisses me on the forehead and leaves.
My eyes widened when I finally see the person who said it.
The president.
"Uhm. Hello Mr. President, I'm sure there have been a mistake about the whole daughter thing. I mean, I'm just a normal girl" I say as polite as I can.
He hugs me tightly though, and I'm not sure if I should hug him back.
"I missed you Alexandria, you've grown so much" he mumbles
I'm still confuse on what's really going on here.
"I'm not your daughter sir" I say politely
"Look, I know you're very confused right now but you are my daughter" he pauses for a while and looks at me.
"You're mother died when you were a year old. I was a senator back then, you're mom was kidnapped by a gang asking for some money and I-"
He swallowed for a while, and I can see his nose turn red and its seems like she's trying to stop himself from crying.
"immediately went there, gave them the money but when they had the money in their hands and they... they killed her in front of me"
I gasp. It was almost exactly like what happened to me, but I survived,
"So, you're grandma and I agreed that it was best if we kept you hidden from the whole world make you a normal teenager so we can keep you safe"
I felt tears forming in my eyes and i couldn't help but feel that my whole life was a lie.
"Where's my uncle" I tell him bluntly, I don't care if I'm the first daughter or not. I just have to know how Jeremy is.
He sighs "Jeremy is resting right now, he has a wound on his arm but he'll be alright-"
"Where is he?!" I cut him off. i don't know how to feel right now.
"He's resting, don't worry he's fine" I nod and decided that I need some time alone.
With that, I used all my strength to stand up and run out before anyone can follow me. I ran down the long hallway until I find a door leading to a balcony.
I stared outside, the moon and stars shining brightly above me.
My whole life is confusing. I don't even know who I really am.
