Chapter 2 - Conversations

<OK. I'm impressed. This company's not bad at all. Hmmm.. My dad's gonna be

thrilled when I tell him about my first day!> Elizabeth looked at Valerie

and smiled.

"Hey Val, Can I call you Val?"

"Huh? ah sure!" She smiled back.

<I like this girl. Its like anyone can be comfortable with her in an

instant. She has a very common face actually, very neat and simple but she's

stylish with her clothes and bag. Hmmm.. I could teach her about make-ups

one of these days.>

"Call me Liz, then. Hope we'll be good friends!" I extended my hand.

"Sure. Thanks for being so friendly. I like you." She accepted my hand and

smiled back.

"No worries! I like you too! uhm, hey Joan!" I leaned at my right and smiled

at her. "Hope we'll be good firends too!" I winked at her.

She shot me a surprised look.

"Thank you, but im warning you, Im a bit of a bore..."

I smiled, "Nonesense! Your just like a flower! Sooner or later you'll

blossom and I'll help you bloom!" I hold both of her hands silently making a

promise to myself that I will help this girl, whatever it takes.

<Hmm.. I already like the two of them. I really wish we'd be good friends

till the end.>

I looked up to the guys accross the table.

That guy on the leftmost,James was it? He looks cool. Sort of like a

happy-go-lucky type of guy. And did I metioned about his dimple? Oh its

almost not visible but i noticed.

I always notice things. I remembered my mom told me once that nothing can

really escape my eyes, I just pretend they do.

That guy in the middle, Joshua Aquino, He seems dangerous. Oh he's not

ugly-looking. He's nothing but handsome. Fine face I must say... pointy nose

and his lips... oh well it must have been good to be kissed by those lips...

Ehem.. what I meant about dangerous is, he's the type that ladies should not

dally with. He seems to be a playboy. Yes, a rake, that's what they call it

in old times.

He must be. He seems to have the air of over confidence in him like he's

always sure of himself. I should not be close with this guy. When I look at

him, theres a little voice inside my head that's telling me, BEWARE!

Henry. Henry Lopez. I wonder what's with this guy anyway. He seems always

bored.

Why do I get this feeling that he doesnt want to be here? And why is he here

if he doesn't want to be?

Im curious. He's not as dangerous looking as Joshua, I guess. He's just

mysterious. They have a bit of a common trait actually, he seems to be so

full of himself like the way he acted in front of Mr. Lucas. Its as if they

have met each other. What with the dislike look upon his face. Well I'll

find it out sooner or later. I'm always good at finding secrets.

I must say, I think I'm gonna enjoy Philippines. There are a lot of

interesting people around here. This wouldn't be boring after all.

"Liz, are you okay?" says Val.

I snapped up from my silent observations, "Yeah sure. Just woolgathering I

suppose. Im excited! I wish we'd be on the same project."

"Yeah, me too", says Val. "It would be nice to know someone when we'll

finally be assigned."

"I guess we should'nt let our hopes up." Joan said.

"Why wouldn't we?" I asked.

"Well, Ive done a little bit of research in this company. They said that

they cater to many companies that are in need of their services. There are

probably so many projects that they do, and not to metion they have over a

thousand employees." She said it almost reassuring that we will be parting

ways after three weeks.

There's more to this girl than meets the eyes, I guess. She has done her

research well. I actually didn't have time to check on this company's

portfolio. I just got thrilled on joining it when I got the offer.

"Well, we should make up the most of our three weeks together then!" Val

said smiling.

"Yes, I agree! Even if we'll part ways, we should still see to it that we

will hangout sometimes." I looked at the guys who are actually listening on

our conversation.

"Would you agree with me boys?" I asked them.

"What was it your saying?" James asked.

"Oh don't pretend you weren't listening! I said-"

"Yeah we heard it alright, your voice is so loud anyone in the room could

hear you even if they dont want to." Josh said cutting me of and rolling his

eyes on the ceiling while saying it.

"why you impertinent-"

"Sure. That would be nice." Henry said with a little shrug on his shoulders.

"What?" I looked at Henry dumbfounded. Its probably the first nice thing he

said after talking to Mr. Lucas.

"Yeah we heard you." James answered. "It would be nice to get together

sometimes even if we're already assigned to different projects." he added

with a smile.

"Ok. very well then! I shall plan all our get togethers! ofcourse I will

need the help of the girls! Boys are just so lame on planning get togethers

dont they?"

"Indeed we are..." Josh added already grinning at me.

Oh this guy! I dont belive I can be with the same room as him in one minute

without wanting to poke him in the head! He makes me feel uncomfortable!

ugh!

Oh, its time already. I can see Mr. Lucas coming back..
