A boy has been broken for a while and his now ex girlfriend just broke his heart. Her beautiful image haunts his mind day and night. He knows he'll never get her back. He cuts his arms and cries himself to sleep for weeks.
A girl has been left all alone and is wandering around like a little lost puppy. She hopes her friends will come back to her, but like the time before and before that, they've left the girl for good. Depression however took her back, and she's worse than she's ever been.
His friends take him out to a club in hopes of cheering him up. They make him try talking to cute girls so he won't be alone. Rejection after rejection made him give up and go home. He walks under the light of street lamps alone with his thoughts.
She's walking alone to think about what may have driven her friends away, could she really be that bad? She walks the cold empty streets deep in concentration with dark thoughts clouding her mind.
They bump into each other and its love at first sight. They spend years together, fixing all the past has done to damage the other. They get married, he gets cancer, and you realize you've wasted your time with this short story.
Not all stories have "happily ever after"s. :)
