Ruined.

I heard the door open and close sparking my attention.

It was her. Of course she was ruining my moment. How'd she even get in? I said nothing I just mugged her as Carter had his arm wrapped around me.

"Well. Hello to you too" she said after about 20 seconds of silence. She was scanning Carter. Judging him. Judging him hard. I could tell.

"Hey, how you doing" Carter said

She put her hand out for Carter to shake and of course he did .

"So, is this your boyfriend? Baby's father?" She asked

"Why-

"Yes. I'm both" he said

Huh? ... Oh no. Both? This little kiss was nice but it didn't make us together. I mean me and Carter have history but me and Dwayne got chemistry. All these subjects I couldn't handle at once.

"Hmmm okay well I'm Penny but everyone calls me Peaches" she said

"I'm Carter"

"Did my Dad give you a Key?" I asked flat out.

She cleared her throat before saying "ask your Dad" and walking off with attitude.

After she disappeared into the back of the house , I turned to Carter. He smiled at me.
"That's your Dad's sister?" He asked

"Nah" I said

He shook off my dry reply and continued talking

"I want us to get back on track. I don't care about what anybody has to say about us" he said

'Listen Carter ... I'd love to do the whole family thing but I have a boyfriend and I'm feeling him so back off' is what I should have said but instead I hesitantly said "we .. Just need to take it slow and work on it"

Was it my old promiscuous self coming out that made me say that? Or was it that I didn't wanna hurt him? Or was it the fact that I wanted to be a family too?

Was I really about to balance two guys like a scale?

Next Day .

Dwayne was texting me none stop at work but I was ignoring him , I felt guilty for the kiss and the fact the me and Carter were talking on a relationship level now. After work I finally called him up , I didn't know what I was gonna say.

"Hello" he said

"Hey..." I said

"Damn you can't text me back?" He said

"Sorry I just been busy with family issues. I've been so stressed I haven't been talking to anybody lately" I lied

"Well you could've let me know something you know I always understand" he said

"Right"

"You should come over . I ain't seen you in days" he paused "I miss your pretty face"

I blushed "I don't know I'm fresh off of work , and I'm all sweaty" I lied . I worked in a cold ass clothing store.

"You can come take a shower here. I won't bother you either ... Not until after" he said

"Idk"

"...please" he said in cute/funny voice .

"Ok."

Dwayne was kissing and sucking my neck but I just couldn't get in the mood. I don't know what was up with me . . .
"Babe what's up?" He said in my ear
"The stress" I said

It was Carter.

"Where are you? I wanna go out for a lil family dinner" he said

I sighed "it's not like that D"

"Then how is it P? Fuck you going to dinner with him for?" He asked

My heart dropped. He was kicking me out. I wanted to cry, this reminded me of when Carter kicked me out in the rain. Every Time I thought about that , it just reminded me of why I didn't want Carter well not at this moment.

I stood up and got dressed. He watched me. He got up to walk me out, I turned to him "I don't wanna loose you D" I said hugging his bare chest.

He kissed my forehead "love you bye" he said .

He had never said he loved me before. . .

I just left to the pharmacy to get the plan B pill.
