Chapter 5

Sorry, this chapter is boring and short but I wanted to update so y'know...I updated 😆😝😝

Ashton laid on the sand after his swim, back in his human form. He went on his phone for a while; just sinking in the sun until Calum would text or come and tell him that dinner is ready.

Ashton raised his eyebrows as he felt his ring finger tingle just as he was scrolling through his twitter feed. He looked up and watched as Michael sat down beside him, his sunglasses on and a snapback on his head.

"Uh...hi." Ashton mumbled before looking back down at his phone. "Hey." Michael greeted back, looking out at the waves. "What...what are you doing here?" Ashton asked slowly, locking his phone and putting it on his towel.

Michael shrugged, "Luke and Kat are at my place playing my PlayStation so I'm bored and I thought you'd be here." He said, glancing down at the curly haired boy. "How long have you been here?" He asked him. Ashton shrugged, looking at the sun as it as slowly beginning to set. "A couple hours I guess." He answered.

Michael hummed, laying down. "Where's your friend?" "Calum?" Ashton asked after a few seconds, sometimes he forgets they're friends and not actual brothers. "Yeah, him." Michael had a small smile on his face at the mention of the raven-haired boy. Ashton chuckled, closing his eyes because he just felt so...content at that moment.

"I don't know, probably still in his room at home." Ashton sighed out, shrugging. "he said something on the way home and was scared I'd hit him." He added. Michael laughed at that, "What'd he say?" He asked, turning his head to look at Ashton.

Ashton hesitated, "that I like Luke." He said, deciding that it didn't matter if Michael knew what Calum said because it wasn't even true anyway.

Right?

Michael laughed, sitting up and brushing the sand off of himself and Ashton did the same. "What's so funny?" Ashton asked, looking at the red/black-haired boy who shrugged, "nothing." He murmured with a smirk.

Ashton rolled his eyes and sighed. He heard his phone chime and he grabbed it, seeing Calum (The lazy bastard) text him, telling him that dinner would be ready in ten minutes.

"I've got to get home for dinner so I'll see you at school tomorrow." Ashton said as he stood up and gathered his things. Michael stood up too. "Wait, do you guys wanna come to the aquarium tomorrow after school? My uncle sometimes lets us help feed the animals." Michael asked, biting his lip.

Ashton smiled and nodded. "Sure, see-ya Mike." He said before he was walking off, up to his house.

Michael sighed, looking down at the ring on his finger as it began to tingle a little. Once Ashton was walking inside his house, Michael let out another breath, running over to the rocks and running out into the water, diving under and grinning widely as his greeny-blue tale appeared.

After dinner, Ashton and Calum went upstairs to Calum's room. Calum played the PlayStation while Ashton laid in his bed, 'watching' Calum play.

Ashton grabbed Calum's phone, going through his pictures and smiling at the ones of the two of them, chuckling at some of the videos. "We're such dorks." Ashton mumbled, still smiling.

"You're only figuring this out now?" Calum asked, his eyes still fixated on his game. Ashton laughed softly, putting the phone down and grabbing his own when he felt it vibrate.

Ashton smiled down at his phone, oblivious to Calum who had paused his game and was now looking at Ashton with a knowing smirk as he texted the blonde.

"Oh by the way, we're going to the aquarium with Michael and Luke tomorrow after school." Ashton said after about ten minutes of texting Luke. Calum nodded, grinning at the thought of getting to hang out with the red/black-haired boy the next day.

The next day was the same as the first basically. Ashton groaned and whined about not having classes with Calum and Calum just chuckled and went on his way, greeting girls and boys and befriending some people.

When lunch rolled around, Ashton was relieved but ended up grumbling under his breath anyway as he saw Luke at their table being all cutely and coupley with Kat.

Why was he huffing and puffing at something so stupid?

God, Ashton you're acting like you like Luke.

He shook his head at the thought that ran through his head, the thought that definitely wasn't true.

Definitely not.

He sat down at the table and gave Luke a small smile when the boy greeted him. Luke turned back around to continue talking to his girlfriend. He looked around, trying to see Calum.

"Anyone seen cal?" He asked. Ed shook his head and Luke and Kat weren't even paying attention. "I think I saw him walking to tryouts for the football team." Michael said before biting into his sandwich.

"He never told me about trying out..." Ashton murmured quietly as he unwrapped his own sandwich.

It's only their second day and Calum had already made more friends.

Calum didn't show up at lunch, so the only class that Ashton actually had with the boy, he was walking himself there.

"Hey curly." He heard a voice beside him. Ashton looked up and saw Luke, his books in his arm and a grin on his face.

"Uh, hey Luke." Ashton said, instantly smiling. "So, are you coming with Mike and I to the aquarium after school?" Luke asked, walking with Ashton to their math class.

Ashton was probably the small percentage of people that actually didn't mind math, one of his favourite classes, actually.

"Yeah, I think Calum wants to come..." Ashton said as he sat down at a free desk and Luke took the seat beside him. Ashton looked up when he noticed someone walking in, seeing it was Calum.

"Hey." Calum said as he sat down on the other side of Ashton. "Hi." Ashton grumbled. "Hey there Cal." Luke said happily.

"Oh, has someone got the grumbles on?" Calum asked, faking a gasp and pout. "Ashy, you know I love you."

"Shut up."

"Well, I never." Calum huffed, faking hurt. Ashton rolled his eyes. "You're such a drama queen, you dork." "A dork and a drama queen huh? I'm on a roll today." Calum laughed. Ashton chuckled softly at that and Luke watched the two brothers bicker.

"Sorry for not telling you, I left class late and I would have been late if I went to try and find you." Calum said, "but I'm here, so no need to pout." He assured.

"That's a shame, Luke and I were having more fun without you, right Luke?" Luke looked down at the big, hazel eyes staring up at him. He smirked, nodding. "Sure were." He hummed.

Ashton let out a humph of triumph and giggled, patting Calum's cheek. The older of the two brothers pouted and crossed his arms just as the teacher walked in.

"You're mean." He said. Ashton just giggled a little more. "Love you too Cal-Pal." Calum rolled his eyes at the nickname and Ashton grinned, glancing at Luke who was looking to the front now. So Ashton did the same, turning to face the front and opening up his book, ready to start the lesson as the teacher began to talk.
