(Okay, quick authors note, his name, Keim is pronounced like the word Crime but without the r, like chime, but not the ch sound, it's more of a kuh. I hope this was helpful!)
Keim glanced at his surroundings, a cool calm in his onyx black eyes. He held a communicator in his pale hand. "Prep the ships, I haven't been successful." He whispered, making sure no one was around to listen.
He'd been practically living in a supply closet close to the empresses room, in hopes of catching her alone. But ever since Zaclyn stopped his first attack (well, technically second), both Asonia, and Pavel were never left alone.
Asonia was always with either her bodyguard, her doctor, or both. Which made it very hard for Keim to even speak with her, let alone kill her.
Keim felt a fist form, and before he knew it, he was punching the wall in anger.
This was supposed to be a simple mission. One that could have been performed by a youngling, but he wasn't a child.
'One last kill before your retirement' they'd said, 'it'll bring you status and glory' they said. But instead, all it brought was anger and frustration.
It was maddening. In his lifetime, he'd killed kings and ordinary citizens alike. Keim had done everything to keep his planet from dying. To keep his people from dying. But all of it, everything he'd accomplished would all be in vain if he didn't succeed. He needed this.
His people the Halio, were dying out. They were a race that looked similar to humans, on the outside. Few people really knew what the Halio were capable of, and even then, even fewer knew that they still existed.
It was all because of Zindaki. The war that led to the destruction of his planet, all because of a simple misunderstanding. Keim's people came to the planet, sick, in need of a planet to colonize, and the emperor at the time, Emperor Jun, turned them down.
Causing the defenseless Halio to find a different home. A planet not very far away that they named Fik.
But Emperor Jun wasn't very happy with the Halio so close by, that when an ambassador came to try and make a truce between the two people, the ship was attacked, the Zindaki believing they were being invaded.
War broke out after that, causing so much destruction, and hate, that Fik was obliterated, and large portions of Zindaki left uninhabitable.
Keim needed to finish the mission. If he didn't, he would be killed. This was the moment the Zindakians were weakest. When the rulers were distracted. When one was weak, expecting a child, and the other, well, the other wasn't even of the same species, let alone royal bloodline. If Asonia were to die, if the child were to die, then the planet would be leaderless, heirless, and in shambles.
They hadn't recovered like the Halio, their population wasn't anywhere near what it once was. This was the optimal opportunity for revenge, and he was failing.
Keim took a few deep breaths, and calmed himself down. He didn't need anyone hearing him. He couldn't get captured, not now.
"We are ready. You have been named the commanding officer. Tell us where to hit, and we will strike with lethal accuracy." Came the raspy reply. Keim nodded even though no one could see. "This is your second chance. Do not fail."
"I will not fail, I swear."
The line beeped, signifying the end of the call. Keim sat down on the floor, a wicked smile on his face. He'd been given a second chance. And he knew, he was not going to fail.

Hikaru Sulu sat at his usual seat on the bridge of the Enterprise, happily tapping away at buttons as he ran reports, and tests over the atmosphere of Zindaki.
Being a lover of plants, he found any and all worlds with vegetation interesting. He hadn't had the chance to visit Pavel and Asonia yet, but his turn for shore leave was coming up.
Sulu sighed and sat back in his seat. Piloting the Enterprise wasn't very hard when he had computers to keep the ship in orbit. But he still enjoyed being at his console, even though he was technically in charge while Jim was down on the planet with Spock.
A sudden rush of beeps brought him out of his thoughts, and he quickly sat up straight.
He scanned the screen, looking for the problem, then it showed up on the main view screen. A proximity alert.
"Captain, we're detecting some sort of perimeter breach." He said, hailing Kirk.
"What kind of perimeter breach? Can you see who it is?"
Sulu pressed some buttons, and when the picture showed up, he felt cold sweat form on the back of his neck.
"Sir, it looks like an army."
