Darry's Pov

I watch Sugar run with her backpack flying behind her. My heart drops all the way down to my stomach as she disappears into the dark night. What have I done? I didn't mean for her to leave. I just got fad up with her, you know? She's been skipping school, disobeying, yelling, being angry all the time. I just wish we knew what was wrong.

"Aren't we going to chase after her?" Pony asks from beside me.

"Just let her go, she'll come back." I respond while running my hand through my slightly greased hair.

"But what if she doesn't?" Pony fires back.

"Then I'll guess they're be only three Curtis siblings." I tell him looking him dead in the eye with no emotion. In reality I could break at any moment. I haven't cried since mom and dad's funeral.

"What is wrong with you Darry?" Soda shouts at me. Soda never shouts unless he really cares about something and he's fighting for them. He really cares about Sugar, therefore he's fighting for her. "This isn't the Darry I know. The Darry I know would be searching for her as soon as she began running, heck before she even made it out the door." His hands run through his slightly greased hair. It's coming out due to his hands excessively running through it.

"There's nothing wrong with me."  I speak back with water appearing at my waterline. What if she gets jumped? Oh god, what if a Soc kills her? It would be all my fault. I pushed her to the edge by repeatedly asking her how she's been doing, when all she wanted was to be left alone. "I need to go think." I say moving past everyone and back into the house. The front slams shut and I stalk to the bedroom I shared with the youngest Curtis. Plopping onto the mattress that sits on the floor I just sit there staring at the limited stuff that scatters the room. My eyes land on the dresser against the wall in the far corner. I stand up slowly and make my way over to it. My eyes land on the money jar that sits all the way in the back where Sugar couldn't reach it. I squint noticing that some money is missing. My teeth clench together as I realize Sugar took money. She stole from me! My hand bats at the jar and it falls to the ground, it shatters.

I fling my door open and stomp down the small hallway that emerges into the living room. The gangs is there talking in hushed tones. "We're going to go find her, going to find her right this minute!" I scream while my hands fly in random motions.

"We will, don't worry Darry." Soda tells me. He's always been calm in situations like this.

"No! Right now." I point out. My hands shake at my sides as I get angrier just standing here. I can't believe she stole from me. I was saving that money, so we would have extra money for when they asked me if they could have something that was a bit out of our normal price limit.

"What's wrong?" Johnny quietly stutters out. He's probably frightened due to all my yelling. Poor kid.

"She stole from me is what's wrong." I seethe.

"Stole? Stole what?" Two-Bit asks taking a swig of his beer.

"Thatta girl." Dally speaks out with his typical smirk on his lips.

"You think this is funny?" I point my shaking finger at him. "It's not kid. Sugar stole from me, her own damn family. Her madness needs to stop. I understand that she's hurting, but she's taking it too far." I speak as I take deep breathes to calm myself down.

"What she steal?" Two-Bit asks once again.

"She stole money." I say.

Their faces turn to shock as they all seem to be processing what I just told them. "Sugar wouldn't...." Pony expresses with a hurt expression on his face.
