     "Starkit! Starkit wake up!"

A furry paw jabbed his flank. "Hurmphf."

"Starkit open your eyes!" He yelped as a paw poked his closed eyes. "Stop!" He mewed clawing the air with his now unsheathed claws. His eyes fluttered open yet he kept clawing the air till his tiny thorn-sharp claws caught flesh.

"Ow! Jayflight! Starkit clawed me!" He could then make-out his sister's leopard-like pelt and Jayflight curled around them. "Calm down Leopardkit, it's just a scratch." The medicine cat mewed calmly. "I'm sorry Leopardkit!" Starkit mewed. "Its okay, just don't do it again," she mumbled

"Why don't you two go play outside?"

"Yea!" Both kits mewed, eyes lighting up. "And we can go see Hawkfeather!" Starkit mewed and Leopardkit cheered agreement. "Wait, no not yet," Jayflight mewed but the kits ignored her, racing through the bramble entrance. They stopped, eyes wide staring around. Everything was covered in cold, white stuff. "Did Rainclan do this?!" Leopardkit squeaked. "I'll rip their pelts off!"

An amused laugh sounded close by. The kits looked around to see a pretty tortoiseshell molly smiling at them. "Why are you smiling? Rainclan has invaded the camp!" Leopardkit angrily squeaked as the warrior padded over. "You silly little kit! Rainclan hasn't and could never do this! It's called snow," the tortoiseshell meowed. Starkit's fur fluffed up when he landed in the snow, making him look like a little grayish snowball. "Who are you?" Starkit asked

"I'm Lostlight. You must be Leopardkit and Starkit."

"Yea!" "Want me to show you two around the camp?"

"No! We know our way around-" Leopardkit's reply was cut off when Starkit shoved her into the snow. "Can you show us around?" Starkit asked "Didn't I ask? Sure." Lostlight meowed. "Badger rides!" Both kits squeaked without asking and scrambled onto the warriors back. Lostlight sighed "Kits, always getting what they want."

Soon they were shown around the whole camp, even Sunclaw's den. "Where is Sunclaw?" Starkit asked. "Right here." a deep voice meowed. Lostlight turned around so the kits could see clearer. A massive flame pelted tom with blazing emerald eyes loomed over them. "Your so, big!" Starkit squeaked. He had seen this tom before when he came to check on the nursery every other day, but it still amazed Starkit how big the orange tabby was. "I'll be bigger than you one day!" Leopardkit declared as Sunclaw let out an amused snort. "I see you have met Lostlight, great warrior isn't she?"

"Yea! she's great and so nice!"

"Can we go see Hawkfeather now?" Starkit asked. "Um," Sunclaw looked troubled not knowing what to say.

"Let's go!" The two kits scampered to the apprentice den, the only place Lostlight didn't show them. They bust into the den, fur fluffed still as they relished the warmth. "Hello kits!" A sweet voice mewed. They narrowed their eyes and saw a brown molly with a red tail. "You must be Starkit and Leopardkit, I'm Foxpaw."

"How does everyone know our names?"

"Because of your mother, and father."

     "Have you seen Hawkfeather?"

"He's over there in the corner of the den." Foxpaw flicked her fluffy tail toward the far corner of the den where a dark lump sat. The kits raced over."Hawkfeather!"

They scrambled over their father who growled when Leopardkit tripped over his tail and Starkit slipped off his back onto his head. "Get off." the big-pawed, tan tom growled. Sitting up, the kits rolled off of him "Ow! your on my tail!" Starkit yelped. Hawkfeather looked down to see his two kits staring up at him with wide emerald and amber eyes.

"Hello my kits." He meowed getting off of Starkit to lay on his belly so he was at direct level with his kits. His voice was quite deep.

     "Hi!"

     "What are you doing here?"

"We wanted to see what you were doing."

"Well, I'm not doing anything right now. I have to bring Jayflight some fresh kill now though," the tan, big pawed tom mumbled padding out of the den. He trudged through the deep snow to the fresh kill pile, picking up the fattest prey, a squirrel, presumably pregnant and brought it to the mouth of the cave. Formed of two giant rocks leaned against each other, the cave was rather big, yet small too. It was the den where Jayflight lived. That is until she moved to the nursery little more than half a moon ago to take care of Leopardkit and Starkit. Jayflight did hang out in the den in her free time though.

"Jayflight," Hawkfeather growled. "Here's your prey you stupid lump of fur." "Why are you being so mean to Jayflight?" Starkit demanded. "Yea! She took care of us for the past, uh, halfmoon!" Leopardkit piped in only for both kits to be silenced with a glare from their father.

"Excuse me? Did I hear that correctly? Or do I have some of your kits fluff stuck in my ears?" Jayflight's sweet voice meowed soon followed by Hawkfeather releasing a massive groan. "I brought you a piece of prey," he repeated in a nicer tone, face now twisted in anger. "Much better, much better." The medicine cat stalked out of the den. Besides the kits, she was the most plump cat in camp, heavy with kits from an unknown father. "Hawkfeather." She dipped her head in greeting, also showing some of the wounds still healing the big pawed tom left. "Would you like to share some of this prey with me?" She asked.

"Yes!" The kits squealed racing into the den. While Leopardkit ran into the den quicker and more sly, Starkit tripped over his over sized paws, hitting the snowing floor with a yelp. "Are you okay?" Leopardkit mewed running back over to her brother. "Yea," he replied getting back to his big paws and staggering a little, before running to the back of the den and struggled to climb on a little rock, big enough to hold  two fully grown cats. it had lots of moss on top and smelled like Jayflight.

     "What are you doing?"

     "Sitting in Jayflight's nest."

     "Why?"

     "Because I can."

"What about the prey? Aren't you hungry?"

"Yea," Starkit fell off the rock trying to get off yet landed on his big fluffy paws. He then scrambled over to his father and the medicine cat, his sister's warm breath on his tail, running slow so her brother could win for once. "Can we have some?" Starkit asked. "Sure, dig in." Jayflight replied as the two kits began munching on the squirrel. Jayflight tore off a piece of it for her and a bigger piece of it for Hawkfeather, leaving the rest of the squirrel for the kits.

The kits both yawned after finishing the meal. "We're gonna go play now." Leopardkit yawned padding out from the shelter of the rocks, Starkit following tiredly. "Shouldn't you get to sleep? Its sundown." Sunclaw's deep voice meowed. "We're not... tired," Starkit replied. "Yea, I can stay up for, a, uh, one-hundred moons!" Leopardkit yawned. Lostlight padded over to the kits, followed by a yawning Jayflight and a stubborn Hawkfeather. "You need to go to sleep." Lostlight meowed and Jayflight nodded agreement. "Can we, sleep with, Lostlight tonight?"

The four cats blinked in surprise. "Well you can't sleep in the warriors den with her."

"Can she sleep in the nursery with us then?" The kits mewed trying not to yawn again. "Ok, I will," Lostlight agreed quietly after a few long moments of silence. "Jayflight deserves to have some peace and quiet." The medicine cat blinked greatfuly, unavailable to find words. "C'mon then." Lostlight picked up Starkit by his scruff and Jayflight grabbed Leopardkit to help.

The kits were barely conciseness once in the warm den. Flowercrest was curled up tight in her nest, her belly big with kits and her face twisted in a painful expression. Lostlight lay down in the nest Jayflight normally was in when taking care of Hawkfeather's kits and watched as Starkit and Leopardkit, too tired to open their eyes again squirmed up to her belly. Within moments they were snoring softly light the flight of an owl, Leopardkit's tiny paws hugged onto her brother's tail and his head resting on her rump. Lostlight stared in awe at the kits for a few moments till she her curled her body and tail around the kits and fell asleep.
