Taylor’s POV

My eyes opened slowly. I stared up at a white ceiling. One word came into my mind. Brian. My breath hitched in my throat and I gasped.

The minute the noise escaped my mouth, David wrapped his arms around my shoulders and pulled me to his chest. As soon as my breathing sped up, it slowed down. I hugged my arms to my chest and tried to control my breathing. One thing I’ve never been good at since...Brian.

“David what happened?” I whispered to him, not moving. He slightly pushed me over and sat next to me on the bed, trying to avoid the wires attached to my body.

“Well Taylor,” He said, positioning his arms around my waist, and laying me down on his chest. “We were leaving the police station, and you saw Brian, who is in custody, and won’t be getting out anytime soon. But when you saw him, you had a panic attack and blacked out. And when you woke up in the hospital, you had another panic attack. Not only did you have a panic attack, but you also seizure and went into shock. You’re okay now and they have you on meds to help your heart rate and breathing stay in a healthy range.”

When David said Brian’s name, I flinched. I always worried about seeing him again, but I never thought it would actually happen. And it just hit me hard when I saw him. All the pain and the memories came flooding back. My sister’s limp, dead, lifeless body lying in the corner of the room, with the man I trusted. But he was the one who killed her. He killed the only thing I had left.

“But Mike Stanford called, telling me that he needs you to come in tomorrow for the sound check for the show. And you need to be at the studio by 6:30 on Saturday,” David informed me. I forgot all about the show. And Harry.

“Harry…” I muttered, looking up at him.

“Harry called, I told him you were fine which is a complete lie but I didn’t want him coming down before your big show, and it might ruin the surprise. Danielle and Liam are coming down though. They’ll be here soon.” I nodded, but didn’t say anything. I stared at my hands which were now lying in my lap.

“How are you feeling?” He asked me. I looked up at him again.

“I’m scared David. I don’t want to see him again, ever. He could hurt me again and I don’t want to have to go through that again. I don’t want anyone to have to go through that.” David shook his head, probably trying to stop himself from saying something totally uncalled for, but I guess it didn’t really matter at this point.

“I’m going to keep you safe if it’s the last thing I do,” David whispered in my ear, kissing my temple. I cuddled myself into him, wishing Harry was here to hold me, no matter how safe I always managed to feel in David’s strong arms.

“What day is it?” I asked him, wanting to change the subject from my cold past to something I could look forward to.

“Thursday.”

“So I have to go tomorrow for the sound check,” I said, more of a statement than a question. I let out a sigh, wanting to just crawl in a hole for the rest of my life and die. I didn’t want to go anywhere, but I made a commitment to Mike and I want Harry back. I honestly miss his curly-haired self. No matter what, I’ll get him back.

“Yeah, you’ll do amazing though. I promise and you’ll win back Harry for sure.”

“When do I get out of here?” I asked him, completely avoiding his previous statement, wanting to avoid that subject too.
