Hazel's POV:
The ice rank raced before my eyes. I stopped spinning and jumped in the air and landed on the ice in the position that Ms. Link taught me, too.
The audience clapped and I faked a smile.
I hated ice skating. My feet always ached and I couldn't eat junk food, soda, or desserts so I can keep my figure. So I've never tasted ice cream.
I had to iceskate because of my dad.
I used to just put up with it, because I did like the wind on my face, but now I just can't take it anymore.
I just don't have one ounce of courage in me.
I like to say that I hide in my dad's shadow. I can't get out, or I would be burned by the sun. So, I stay hidden away from what I want to do.
And that's sing.
I want to be as big as Justin Bieber. I want to win awards like Demi Lovato. I want to be known all over the world like One Direction. I just want to sing on stage, in front of fans screaming my name.
But I can't.

"I'm so proud of you, Haze. You are so good." Dad said as he drove me home.
"Thanks." I mumbled, staring out the window.
"Hazel, is something bothering you?" Dad asked.
Here we go again. Nosy Dad is coming out. I thought.
"I'm just tired." I answered.
"You seem to be tired a lot." Dad said, side glancing at me.
"Yeah." I answered, looking back out the window.
"Maybe you should go to bed earlier." Dad suggested.
"Maybe I will." I said, closing my eyes and leaning on the window.
"So Haze, how is school going?" Dad asked.
"It's fine." I lied. Because of my practices and shows, I don't have any friends.
"How is Carly?" Dad asked. I cringed at her name. Carly used to be my best friend. She used to ice skate, but then she quit at the beginning of junior year. Then one day, she told me that I wasn't fun to be around because I was always skating and stopped hanging out with me.
"She's fine." I replied.
"How's Lilly?" Dad asked. Lilly left me, too. She never did ice skating, but she was a really good friend. the only difference, is that she left me just a month ago.
"She's doing okay." I answered as my dad pulled into the driveway.
"Well that's good." Dad said, making his way to the garage.
"Mmhm." I mumbled. The car came to a stop and I got out. I grabbed my ice skates and blue mini dress from the backseat of the SUV. I closed the door and walked up the wood stairs to the door leading to the kitchen.
I put my key into the lock and turned the knob, unlocking the door. I opened it and walked in and straight to my room.
I locked the door and threw my skates and dress in my closet. I took out the hair tie letting my brown hair fall down to my mid chest.
I walked over to my bed, which had a deep red comforter, my favorite color, and fell onto it, crinkling the soft cover.
I sighed and stared at the medals and trophies on my two trophy shelves.
