quarante-deux // universe departure

you're walking all
over the earth,
your shoes brushing
against the dirt,
slowly eroding the surface,
a solid ground that you're going to miss.

are you scared for when you'll fall
helplessly through the floor?
you'll be begging to stop,
but your feet will only desire more;
they depend on a new concrete to land upon,
the earth is crumbling beneath you,
but your grip is strong.
however, the forces in the universe have a
mind of their own,
you're plummeting, for what feels like forever,
all alone.

the powerful arms of gravity are pulling you vertically,
further and further down,
your aching stilts require a rigid area to land on:
the ends of your shoelaces search for a resting territory
but discover no sign of an idealistic region,
causing them to frown.
alas! you spot a preferable planet floating
through an unknown location,
you cry with ecstasy since you have
finally found and secured your salvation.
after hurtling through space for many, many hours,
you feel as if you have been drained of your powers,
lacking control and resting your throbbing
head on a soft item you adopt as your pillow,
your eyes start to close and your utter
fatigue starts to show.

your once heavy eyes are awakened by the glorious sun,
you are at ease since you are no longer on the run.
gazing around the vast space that you are in,
you observe the atmosphere which is of the colour cream,
it takes you seconds to descry what is happening,
but then you realise that you are safe and unharmed in your bedroom
and that this whole startling escapade was all a vivid dream.

pounding with questions is your head,
however, you are incredibly relieved to be
unscathed in your bed,
but confusion lies in the back of your mind,
since you are never as inclined, with dreams,
to enquire and long to find
more information regarding midnight fantasies,
that are very much in the past,
and left behind.
