"Ready for the meeting, West?" said Prussia in high spirits.

"Ja." Germany watched his brother as they made their way to the boardroom. "I thought you didn't like these meetings?"

"I don't. Things are just different today."

Germany was about to ask him what he meant, but Prussia already opened and passed through the meeting room doors.

"Herr Germany, welcome," greeted the Chancellor of West Germany.

"Danke," said Prussia and Germany in unison, forgetting for a moment that there was another Germany in the room.

"Welcome to the both of you," said the Chancellor, brushing off the mistake.

He gestured for them to sit down and they gathered around the table in the middle of the room.

"As you can tell, we have what you would call a situation," said the newly elected East German Prime Minister, "After talking it over with your chancellor, Herr West, we have agreed that with our current, economic and political condition, it would be best for both parties for you to be the soul Germany. The paperwork is already in place for you to take control of Herr East's land and populace. We just need your signature as confirmation to put this into effect."

Germany listened to the Prime Minister with disbelief, refusing to even look at the papers they set before him.

"What about my brother?" he asked, expecting that there had to be more to the Prime Minister's plan.

"East Germany will... essentially cease to exist as a country."

"What?" said Germany, hands slamming on the table as he jumped to his feet.

"West, its fine. I already agreed to this." Prussia tried to calm his brother, but that only directed Germany's rage toward him.

"You knew about this?"

"We have been discussing this for a while," said Prussia, a little ashamed that he had been going behind his brother's back.

"How could you agree to this? You'll disappear!"

"It's not like it was in the old days. I won't just disappear."

"But even if you don't disappear and just become human you will still die someday!"

Prussia sighed and with a surprising level of calmness turned to their bosses.

"Could you give us a minute alone?"

With quiet mutterings, the dignitaries filed out of the boardroom. Once alone, Prussia got to his feet.

"I want you to sign those papers, West."

"No, I refuse."

"West, I'm an old nation. I might not look like it, but I am. My borders have moved more times than I can count and my name has been changed so many times that I don't even know what it is anymore." Prussia gripped him by the shoulders. "But now my people need a new start. They need a strong nation to support them. They need you, West."

Germany looked at him both startled and saddened by his request. Germany's head lowered until it rested on his brother's shoulder.

"I don't want to lose you, bruder."

No matter how big or brawny he got, Germany would always be his little brother, and Prussia never could stand to see him upset.

"I'm not going anywhere." Prussia soothed, patting his head, "I won't leave you again. I promise. I'm just too awesome to disappear."

Germany managed to snicker, and Prussia tipped his head to look at the man clinging to him.

"Can you do me this favor, West?"

When the boardroom doors finally opened, the two men walked out, arms around the other's shoulder, paying no mind to their bosses as they peppered them with questions.

"Come on, West!" said Prussia as they walked down the hall, "Let's go get a beer, and you can tell me all about your side of the fence."

Left in silence, the representatives looked around for what to do and found the papers stacked neatly on the table, signature included.

A/N

Well, I hope you all liked it.

I have been wanting to publish this part for so long. It was actually one of the first I wrote for this story. I write things out of order, it's just what I do. That's why it's kind of hjklgkncfgyhvguhb.

The chapter titles are the names of historical events and articles I read while researching. I packed a heckalotta of history into this. Even more than I mentioned in my notes. But I don't know why I did. It's pretty obscure history, so I doubt if anyone will notice, and there were much more important things to waste my time on. Oh well!

Anyway...

Thanks for reading and stay awesome!
