Avrel is a 16 year old teen living in the year 3016. His hair is mid length and a dark. His eyes, also dark. His skin is tanned well, and he's tall - well, not tall, but taller than his friends. He doesn't have many friends, but those he does have are extremely close. Avrel doesn't know what he would do if one of them went missing like other people. Everyone is suspicious of the government. It's shady and can barely tell anyone what to do. It's not much of a true government. Maybe this is its way of stating power and dominance.
Avrel went about his life in a small house near the edge of town. His family was basically upper class, but since there were no working economic anything since before the 5C War, they had pretty low class living. But, they did get enough to eat, although Avrel thought enough could be a little more. Avrel lived with his two sisters, 18 and 6, and his mother. Avrel's dad disappeared - captured, Avrel was convinced, by the government.
Just outside the town was a grove of trees where Avrel and the gang liked to hang out. Today they smoked stolen cigarettes and talked. They puffed them slowly, 'cause they only had a few.
Sevantei breaks the silence. "So people used to love these before the war? I guess I can see why." He smirks as he exhales a large cloud of smoke.
"Slow down, Sev. We don't know the next time we'll get these," Nikal says.
"I don't know," Avrel inputs. "The smoke is amusing, but I hate the taste. You guys can have mine."
"Woah, no shit? Dude, you're awesome," Sevantei laughs as he grabs his and tosses a few to Nikal.
"Where's Aleissia, anyway?" Nikal asks in her high but strong voice. As if on queue, Aleissia rustles through the brush with a thick book.
"Oh god, here we go again," Sevantai thinks aloud. "We're not at school," Nikal urges. Avrel was the only one in her favor. He had a strong liking of her, after all. "Give her a chance guys, she looks excited about this."
Aleissia arrived, out of breath. She drops the book down before us. It's a history book stuffed with little extra pages. She loves learning, especially history. She could relate anything with an event in the past. As she caught her breath, Avrel opens up the book, and Sevantei and Nikal look over his shoulders. It looked old, like, really old. Sevantei grabs a few of the loose pages and shares them with Nikal.
"What are these, Aly?" Nikal asks.
"Where did you get this?" Sevantei asks.
"Are you ok?" Avrel asks.
Aleissia got her breath back and started explaining with passion in her eyes. "This is a really old history book-"
"Yeah, no kidding," Sevantei blurts out. "This thing's so old it belongs inside a history book."
Aleissia continues, "Buuuut, I think it was also used as a time capsule."
"What do you mean by time capsule?" Nikal wonders.
Then Aleissia explains, "Well, the book itself is an actual history book, but all those extra pages aren't from it. Some people from that time period must have written down things about life then for the future. It's got dates and everything!"
Avrel checks what year the book was made. "2008. Guys, this book is over a millennium old! How did you even find this?!" Avrel's face was filled with joy, but Aleissia's face darkened, and her smile was no longer genuine.
"Oh ho ho! Looks like our dear Aly's committed her first thievery!" Sevantei laughs.
Nikal's eyes widen in surprise. "Did you really? You? Oh my god, Aly, you're officially part of us!"
