"Shit, shit, shit! I'm gonna be late!" You ran out off your apartment complex, hoping you could make it to work on time, when you got a call from your boss. "Boss, I'm so sorry I'm late! I'm on my way right now, I-" "(y/n)! Calm down! I called to tell you to take the week off." "What?" "I looked at your work log; you haven't taken time off in months! So take the week off and I'll see you next Monday. Bye!"

You put your phone back in your pocket. Well, now what? You think to yourself. After some internal debate, you decided to spend the day at the cafe. You ordered a (favorite drink) and sat down. You pulled out the book that you brought everywhere with you: a copy of German fairy tales.

"Ahem..." You look up to see a rather handsome man standing in front of you. He was tall with black hair that curled a bit on his forehead. He was wearing khaki dress pants, a white collard shirt rolled up to his elbows, and small circular glasses. "I don't mean to interrupt, but I couldn't help but notice jour book frau. An excellent choice." You could tell by his accent that he was german. "Thank you. I like the originals far more than the what Disney puts out." "Far more entertaining, ja?" "Mmhm" "I don't mean to impose, but... may I join jou?" "Sure. Always nice to have some company." He thanked you and sat down. You talked about fairytales and how different it was growing up in America rather than his native Germany. You ended up talking until close to 9 pm. "Well," you said, "I'd better get home." "Oh ja. I did not mean to keep jou this long." "It's fine. Gave me something to do today." You both got up, and you extended your hand. He took it took it and shook. He looked contemplative for a moment, almost...sad. He then reached out, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. "Auf Wierdersehen (y/n)." He payed for his drink, and walked out. You sighed, hoping you could see him again sometime. Wait a second... you thought how did he know my name? You shook it off, thinking you may have mentioned it in conversation at some point.

You walked home, enjoying the sounds of the night on your way. You were walking past an alley way, when you were pulled into it, a hand over your mouth and a gun to your head. Before you could comprehend what was happening, you felt a pain in your head, like being hit with a spiked baseball bat. Then, you knew nothing but a vast whiteness, and a feeling of floating.

"Hallo (y/n)." You hear a voice from behind you and turn around , only to be greeted by the german from before. Only, he looked different. He was wearing all white clothing, with a halo and white wings. "H-hi..." you said hesitantly. He stepped a bit closer. "Jou no doubt are scared und vish to know vere jou are, ja?" You nodded. "Jou died frau." Your eyes widened, and you started to shake. "What? What do you mean, tha- that can't be true I-" You started freaking out, hoping that it wasn't true, that maybe you'd gone insane, that it was all a dream. But deep down, you knew it was true. You started to cry and he ran forwards, wrapping you in a hug. "Shh... it's okay leibling. Jou are safe. No one can hurt jou anymore." You cried into his chest. "Where am I? And, who are you?"

The look in his eyes told you he wasn't lying, he really loved you. I'm dead. What else do I have to lose. "Okay..." you whisper. His eyes lit up, and he leaned down.
