Forty One

Demi had fallen back to sleep after she heard the conversation. Joe had let go of her hand but he was playing with her hair as she slept admiring how beautiful she was. He could see the pregnancy glow she had on her cheeks Demi's hand laying down on her unformed bump. He knew she would be a great mother even if she didn't have her sight straight away. She may need some assistance but she'd pick it up like she did everything else. He stayed by her side until he saw her beginning to wake up, that's when he let go of the strands of hair taking hold of her hand so she knew that he was here. He'd always be there for her.

"How are you feeling?" Joe questioned leaning over kissing the corner of her mouth.

"Better," She smiled squeezing his hand. "I'm glad our baby is okay."

"He or she is a fighter clearly, can you remember what happened?" Demi nodded her head gently, she wouldn't tell him the whole truth, she was testing him. But she didn't think he felt like he did before she heard the conversation he had with his mother. She didn't think he felt scared that she'd leave him but she could understand why he didn't tell her in the first place. She couldn't imagine being famous like he was, having fake friends that are only being friends with him for the fame or the money. She just wished he'd tell her already then she could reassure him that she wouldn't leave him. She loved him for who he was not because he was Joe Jonas.

"I just remember hearing a huge crowd then some pushing, how is Jace?" Demi answered adding in her own question.

"He's fine, my mom took him back home to feed him," Demi nodded her head gently but smiled when he leaned over kissing her gently, she kissed him back before he pulled away squeezing her hand gently. "I love you."

"I love you too Joe, so does our little one." Joe smiled leaning over laying his spare hand on her hand which was still laid on her stomach.

"Daddy loves you too."

Demi held Jace's leash as they entered the house, the hospital had no reason to keep her in so they let her go after giving her some pain relief that won't harm the baby. Joe kissed her head as she sat down before entering the kitchen to make some drinks but he checked his phone too sighing when he already saw some articles about Demi's fall, it was their fault she fell in the first place. He had never been so angry at them before, not even when they are hounding him for questions. They could have seriously hurt Demi and they could have lost their baby. He entered the living room again handing Demi a drink giving Jace a dog treat before sitting down.

"It's good to be home." Demi admitted.

"You weren't in there long." Joe stated snaking his arm around her kissing her temple gently then moving some hair out of her face

"Long enough," Demi muttered smiling as Jace jumped up after finishing his treat. "Momma's boy is so brave for helping mommy out." She kissed his head gently Jace licking her cheek as a reply, he was ready to rest again after today.

"Where did you come up with the name Jace?" Joe questioned curious pecking her lips gently as she turned to his direction.

"It means a healing so I thought it suited him. He's my best friend and has helped me through a lot, I couldn't imagine being blind and not having him here." Demi admitted.

"Cute," Demi giggled laying her head down on his shoulder. "You know I'm not letting you go out without me now."

"I know," Demi giggled. "I don't want to, I'd be too scared that it will happen again. I don't want to lose our baby." She agreed, even though she wasn't able to see her child on the screen or even when he or she was born she still loved her child. She couldn't wait to meet him or her.
