Sixty Nine

Demi was still sat in the room with Joe when the door opened again Joe seeing two young men entering. He recognised them from the video Demi had showed him as his brothers, he was still frustrated that he could only remember his own brothers because Demi had showed him the video. He had been told all about his youngest brother who was back at home and would come see him soon. They all greeted each other Nick and Kevin taking a seat.

"How are you feeling?" Kevin questioned his younger brother.

"Physically I feel fine but mentally not too good, I've just got so much going in at the moment it's starting to cause a headache." Joe complained.

"We can go if you want to get some rest?" Nick suggested but Joe took his head gently.

"You flew all the way over to see me, I'm fine. I don't think I'll be too much long in the hospital anyway." Joe answered. They were all just glad that he was okay, they nearly lost him twice three years back and it had taken his body this long to heal enough for him to come out of the coma. Joe was glad nobody gave up on him, that they still visited him even after three years.

"Have you got any childhood stories you could tell him? That might help with his memory a bit." Demi suggested.

"Actually I think I'd rather just chat and try and forget about remembering stuff, I just want to relax." Joe admitted. The last thing they wanted was to rush Joe into trying to remember everything all at once. Little memories might come back.

"That's fine, do the doctors think you will be back to normal then?" Kevin questioned.

"They think that I will get my memory back one day, they just can't predict when it will be, it could be tomorrow or in five years." Joe answered, he didn't like the idea of waiting five years to remember everything. They didn't either, they had already waited three years for him to be responsive again but they wouldn't give up on him.

"Whoa this feels weird," Joe stated as he got off the bed his legs being weak from not walking for three years but also they were both broken in the crash, the impact of the car landed mostly on his legs and it was too much for them to cope with. He had one of his arms around Demi and his other around Nick as they begun to lead him out the hospital slowly so his legs could get used to being used once again. "How old his Amelia?" He looked down towards Demi who had a small smile on her face, people were moving out their way knowing him as the man who had been in a coma for the past three years and a little bit.

"She's three, your number one fan even though she doesn't remember you. The crash happened when she was four days old." Demi explained.

"Why have you been showing her videos?" Joe questioned.

"Yeah, I wanted her to know who her dad was otherwise I'd just get questions as she grew up. She's with my parents now."

"She's a good kid, you'll get to know that when you spend more time with her." Nick added in a small smile coming to Joe's face. He put some more weight on his legs soon only leaning on his younger brother Demi able to walk by their side.

"Can you bring her down tomorrow? I want to spend some time with her." Demi couldn't help but smile, she was just glad he wanted to make a effort to get to know their daughter even if he didn't have much of his memory.

"Of course, she'll be one happy girl." Demi replied. They continued to take a walk around the hospital, they couldn't go outside because the press was there after seeing so many of Joe's family arrive, they knew something was going on with him whether he was awake or not they wouldn't know. Nick and Kevin had already planned to go out together later on to settle everything down, the last thing they wanted was for Joe to go out and be bombarded with people and camera wanting to get the first glance of him after three years of not being around.
