It has been only a couple of weeks since the universe jump, reality hop, space trip, whatever you want to call it, and John was intergrating into the community just fine. He was John Mendez-Halsey, owner of Mendez-Halsey mechanics. That or the hottie in church street, according to the local gossip. Or even the pimp-my-ride 'go to' guy to the younger drivers.
He would spruce up the ruffian's cars, make them sound cooler, 3% faster, but for some trustworthy firms and individuals he would increase the efficiency up to 80%, but non-disclosure papers helped keep his work in the shadows.
His life was pretty monotonous at the moment, his first monthly check on both vessels, which surprisingly took no longer than a couple hours, a maintenance check on all hardware, software being checked on by Cortana, and an inventory check every so often, but it was more procedure than anything.
John has also taken a liking to reading. He's midway trough the second Game of thrones book. He found the story quite perculiar and amusing, since the Tyrion character, according to the author, was described to be so small, John imained he could probably shoot the dwarf from his rocket launcher, the thought making him smile, just a little.
Occasionally, though, some fool would think that no crime goes unpunished in New York. They were wrong. Like all the other cities like Gotham or Metropolis, the police tried to rely on the 'Chief' for everything, which didn't sit well with the spartan, who never turned up unless the police were either seriously outgunned or outclassed. This helped in news statements also, because it made him look like he wasn't going to replace the police, more just a last case senario, needed only for extreme emergencies, otherwise what wuld be the point of the national sevices right? Only when people like Metallo appear or other villains of his 'calibre', which was: too deadly for the police, child's play for John, was the only time when the mean, green, hero machine went into action.
When he would come home, Cortana would often greet him with some cheeky comment or other, then follow up with news, stats and the like, wether it be hero or mundane related topics. At the moment, John only had one serious enemy. Sleep. When it was time, John couldn't, and during the day, John would need it, yet again, he couldn't. It wasn't insomnia, it was definitely something else. Periodically, he would feel as if his mind was being touched somehow, and when his eyes close, raw images, things he has never seen before, take up all his thoughts, chaos, fighting, war. But what exactly? He wasn't sure. But he'll figure it out. Somehow.

Batman and Superman watched as the wreckage of the facility burst into flames, and the inhuman 'scientist's restored their mangled bodies and calmly walked into the darkness of the trees and out of sight. After some discussion as to what the unknown threat was, Superman left the caped crusader with a little gadget.

"Press the button and I'll come to assist you."

And with that, the man of steel climes into the atmosphere and sped away.

It was news all over the states as Superman was supporting and helping out senator Carter and the dismantling of all of America's deadly nuclear warheads. There was ample support for the hero. But there was a lot of skeptism also,
Many opposing reasons being that " we cannot put all of our problems in superman, he is only one person, and could not deal with all the problems humanity faced."
That was sure to be the case sooner or later.

"Status report, now!" Lord hood was panicking, after the battle, Chief had cut the line and was preparing to head back home.
That man deserves a medal. But he has already gotten them all, well, apart from the prisoner of war medal. Probably just make a new one for him.
It had been two hours since the covenant fleet was defeated. They should have been home by now.
