Misery

Misery is an overused word,
But how much misery can one really handle?
In everyone's eyes misery is an earthly thing.
One that cannot simply just go away.
It can come from the heart,
But people who show sadness are better off than those who hide it
Better off than those who smile the day away
Because that can only spread it.
Like walking down a dark passageway,
Not knowing where you're going.
Like floating in space with no ties to reality.
But whether you have someone die in your arms,
Whether or not you're beaten to a pulp by words or fists,
There's always going to be someone next to you,
Even if it feels invisible.
Even if they're a ghost.
