"... We're going on a trip to Europe!" Jeff loudly exclaimed, a wide grin spread across his face. Everybody cheered and their moods were instantly lifted. They were all wearing huge smiles and chattering enthusiastically about the trip.
"What parts of Europe are we going to?" Jodie asked, hoping that he'd mention a very specific place.
"We'll be spending a week in France a week in London and a week in Italy!" Jeff replied, making sure that everybody else also heard his response.
Jodie's eyes lit up when he mentioned the place she'd wanted him to; London. This trip would give her the perfect opportunity to sort everything out that she'd been stressing at the back of her mind about. It would also give her the chance to do something she'd wanted to do for years but had been too afraid to do.
"YES!" She cheered loudly, punching the air victoriously as though she had just won the lottery.
Jodie hugged everybody happily, spending a tiny bit more time hugging Chris than she had for anybody else.
The rest of the afternoon consisted of everybody building up their excitement and enthusiasm as they relaxed on the fairly comfortable sofas in the lounge. "Wait a second..." Jodie said as she realised something of much importance, "What exactly am I gonna take on this trip? I don't really fancy travelling around Europe in my smelly pyjamas with nothing to my name!"
"That's easy, I'll just take you out shopping tomorrow." Chris replied, smiling.
"No no no, you don't have to do that!" Jodie insisted, even though she had no alternate ideas.
"Do you have any other ideas?"
"Well, no..."
"Exactly! And besides, you don't have absolutely nothing..." He winked, tossing her backpack to her. She caught it and gasped very loudly.
"How did you-"
"You left it in Knoxville's car, I saw it on the back seat." Chris smiled, Jodie's reaction making him feel even happier than he had been before. Jodie's smile stretched from ear to ear as she pulled the things out of her bag that she was so relieved to have; Her phone, her sketchbook, her pencil case, her headphones and her wallet were all in there, perfectly intact.
Jodie went to hug Chris, but decided against it at the last second.
"I would hug you," She explained herself, "but I stink like shit right now. I really need a bathroom!" She smirked as she sat back on the floor.
"I don't care about that, c'mere!" Chris smiled, pulling Jodie towards him and hugging her.
Chris let go of her and she sat back down once again, a blush crossing her cheeks. Jodie did have a slight stink to her, but it was barely noticeable. Everybody was still partially absorbed in their own conversations, but were mostly too tired to speak very much.
Jodie leant against the wall behind her with a content sigh and a sleepy yet happy smile. Everybody lay there in a peaceful silence, just enjoying the atmosphere of the room.
Jodie felt as though her life was entirely perfect at that moment in time, and that's because it truly was.
