Instantly, Alan's legs pulled him into a sprint towards Austin. His mind was racing, but somehow void of thought at the same time. He could not get to him quick enough, and soon stumbled on top of Austin, giving him a tight hug. This embrace was quickly halted when Alan saw Austin wincing, and noticed the blood that was now smeared on his hands.

Alan's held his breath, he clutched at Austin desperatly and tried -in vain- to hold up his lolling head. "Wha...what happened to you?" Alan whispered, not wanting to believe his eyes, "Austin..?" He seemed to be drifting in and out of conciousness, but managed to open his eyes to look at Alan. They were pale, and nothing like the strong red tinged eyes he knew.

The effort it took for Austin to open his eyes, seemed to completely exhaust him, and he looked down at his hands, ashamed. Alan's eyes also drifted disbelievingly to Austin's hands, and saw they were chained to the wall, so he couldn't move. His heart clenched horribly, this was an attack.

Frantically, Alan leapt to his feet, looking for the nearest sharp implement he could use to cut through the chains. He flung open cupboards and eventually found one with sharp looking knives in it. Picking the most brutal looking one, Alan set to work hacking at the chains, it took a while, but the knife he found seemed to be enchanted to cut through anything, even the strong iron chains...

A satisfying 'clink' met Alan's ears and the chains fell to the ground. The chains seemed to be the only thing holding Austin up, and he slumped to the ground, luckily Alan caught him before he hit the floor. Cradling him, Alan asked Austin, "Who did this to you?" In a gentle voice, not covering his panic well.

"It's..." Austin started is a croaky voice, "the other vampires..."

Vampires? Alan's heart jumped, what if they were still here?

"C'mon we need to get you to bed, you need to rest." Alan said, brushing away his frantic thoughts.

Just as Alan struggled to heave Austin to his feet, they heard a loud thud, and looked up to see the door swung open. Alan and Austin made eye contact, both of their eyes widening in shock, before their heads snapped around to gawp at the group of figures that stood in the door way.

Alan's worst fears had been confirmed: Vampires.
