"Oh my god Alan what the hell are you wearing?!" Tay asked, before bursting into fits of giggles.

Alan looked down at his rather attractive costume, well, he thought it was anyway. There's nothing more scary than a black cat on halloween right? He remembered looking in the mirror and thinking how well the pink fluffy paws and ears complimented his skin tone.

"Don't deny it, I'm the hottest cat you've even seen." Alan cried, and posed rather flamboyantly.

"I highly doubt that." Tay replied and punched him playfully. "Oh! Jenna's here!!!" She sung as the doorbell rang.

Alan rolled his eyes and plonked himself on the sofa, he knew he would have some time to wait. They might actually get to go trick or treating if them two stopped making out for five seconds!

Eventually the two emerged from the hallway. "Hey Jenna!" Alan yelled. "Ready to get spookin?"

"Yeah sure," She chuckled.

They had been around their local neighbourhood, and their little pumpkin baskets were full of sweets, when the inevitable happened. Tay dared Alan to go in the abandoned house down the road. It was said to be haunted, but he didn't really believe in that...

By the time they reached the front gate, Alan was shaking so much in his pink fluffy boots he almost fell over. The moon was glimmering bright and full in the sky, occasionally being passed by grey drifting clouds.

The ominous black building loomed up before them like a monster waiting to attack. There was an unusual chill in the air which made Alan shiver, despite the warmth of his cat costume.

"So are you going in?" Tay asked.

"Only if you come with me!" the terrified ginger/pink cat-boy whined, not wanting to be alone in the gloomy abandoned house.

The girls gave each other a knowing look, and Jenna piped up, "Of course! We will be right behind you!" She smiled at him sweetly.

"Why are we doing this again?" Alan wondered aloud.

"Because its fun!" Tay yelled, "Go on then, lead the way Alan!"

He took one last concerned look at his friends and turned to face the horrible looking manor.

He reached the door and knocked on it by instinct, then realised that was stupid considering it's abandoned. The door swung open on screeching hinges. He stepped inside, soon to be hit my a horrible dusty smell which caused him to cough and wheeze straight away. When his breathing became regular again, Alan took a deep breath and stepped completely into the elaborate hallway.

The door slammed shut behind him, causing him to spin around in horror. What happened to Jenna and Tay?! Immediately he ran for the nearest window, but they were all boarded up.

Alan's heart slammed in his chest with such violence he thought it might even fall out. Hearing muffled giggles and footsteps getting quieter, a pang of betrayal ran through him. Great. He thought, They left me. Oh well, they probably thought it was funny...

With a sigh, Alan trudged back to the door, floorboards creaking beneath his feet. His hand reached out for the handle, and pulled: nothing. Desperately, he twisted and pushed and pulled the door handle, but still, nothing happened. Eventually the lump of rusty iron fell off in his hand! He threw it violently at the ground in frustration, and a loud crash echoed around the freakishly silent house.

Well he thought I may as well explore the place if I am trapped in it for now. Tay and Jenna would come back eventually, he was sure of it.

The hallway he was in had a chandelier hanging from the ceiling, shards of glass dangling from tiny rings of metal. It looked a lot like a death trap.

The boy in an odd looking cat costume, poked his head around a few rooms downstairs, and nothing was particularly interesting. So, he took to the crooked stairs. They looked as if they once had been beautiful, lined with a plush red carpet, banisters tipped with gold; now the carpet was torn and murky, the banisters were chipped and splintering everywhere.

The wood creaked dangerously; he took each step more carefully than the last.

The top of the stairs was almost greeting him, when his foot slipped and his clumsy body clattered to the ground. The mangled carpet had hidden the fact that the wood was splitting underneath, and luckily he didn't fall entirely through the floor. All the same adrenaline slammed through his veins and his breath was so rugged he struggled to get up again.

Dull colours morphed and swirled around him, and he was vaguely aware of himself slipping to the ground.

Alan came around sometime later, with no idea how long he was unconscious, he was just glad to be awake again. I could have been there for hours! He thought in alarm.

After sitting, feeling dazed for a while, he gathered up the courage to look around a little more.

After a while, he discovered what looked like a door frame hung with a heavy black sheet.

Should I look behind it? He wondered. It didn't look as old as the rest of the house...

His fingers were inching towards the rumpled material before he even acknowledged it. In a flash, the cloth swept back and what Alan saw sent him stumbling backwards in horror.

A pale white face, upside down was glowing in the dark was staring directly at him.
