Michael coughed harshly into the sleeve of his oversized sweater as he made his way into the man cave at the back of the bus. He felt absolutely awful and was sure that the others felt the same way and would agree strongly. The four of them had been ill with a terrible cold for almost three days now, and it wasn't letting up.

From the couch in the back room, Michael could hear Ashton's obnoxiously loud sneeze erupt from the bathroom, followed by a long blowing of his nose. Next to Michael, Calum was asleep, cuddled up with a pile of blankets and pillows. Luke was there too, flipping mindlessly through the channels on the above tv with a blank, dull expression on his face.

Luke was so tired and had barely slept because he was constantly kept awake by the incessant urge to cough. Also by the coughing and sneezing of everyone else on the bus.

Michael pulled a spare blanket up from the floor and wrapped it around his shivering body. He was about to fall asleep when he suddenly sneezed and fell into a painful coughing fit.

"Ugh I feel so sick," he moaned, not really talking to anyone in particular.

"I feel you bro," Luke mumbled and blew his nose afterwards, tossing the tissue aimlessly into the overflowing trash can on the floor. Then Ashton came stumbling into the room and plopped down next to Luke. He groaned and held his head in his hands.

"Guys, management just texted me saying we have a-" Ashton paused to cough into his arm, "-that we have soundcheck in a half an hour and also the driver said that the bus'll be at the venue soon."

"No...we can't perform tonight, we barely have voices to sing with, let alone talk," Calum said, just waking up and moving a pillow to reveal his tired, fever glazed eyes.

"Yeah, we'll never get through it," Luke added.

"I know all that...they won't listen to me though, I tried telling them," Ashton said quietly, all the talking hurting his throat.

"We need to ask to reschedule the concert tonight, there's no way..." Michael said.

The other three nodded in agreement and the four of them focused their attention on the tv, slowly falling asleep.

---

When they arrived at the venue for soundcheck, they halfheartedly pulled on some presentable clothes and trudged into the building, shivering and coughing the whole way.

Ashton was pale, had flushed cheeks, and beads of sweat were starting to form on his forehead. "I'm starting to get dizzy from all of this walking," he said, breathless. "Where's the damn entrance to the stage?" He looked around hopelessly for a door that said 'stage' or something close to that.

"It's over here," Michael said, finding a sign on the wall directing them to the stage.

They walked in and Ashton slumped down on his little stool, grateful to be sitting down, and sniffled, adjusting his glasses. The other three got their instruments and slowly walked over to their spots.

"Alright guys, let's start with Jet Black Heart," Joe, (idk just go with it lol) their vocal coach down on the floor called to them. They nodded and Ashton started playing the drum beat.

Michaels' voice was extra rough and as Luke's part approached, he opened his mouth and started to sing but immediately went into a coughing fit. The others stopped playing as Luke continued to cough up a lung until he finally stopped, his throat aching badly.

"Sorry," he said quietly.

Joe started to say something but was cut off as Calum started sneezing forcefully.

"Oh my god, are all four of you sick?" he asked sounding concerned.

"Y-yeah," Michael croaked.

"M-management wouldn't let us stay back on the bus," Ashton said, sniffling.

Joe shook his head in disbelief and then went up on the stage, ushering them to the side. "Alright, you guys can't possibly perform in the state you're all in, I'm gonna-" he was cut off when Calum stumbled a bit and almost fell over, but caught himself on Luke's shoulder.

"Woah, you okay there Calum?"  Joe asked, stepping forward.

"M' just a little dizzy..." he slurred, stumbling again. This time his eyes fluttered and slipped closed as he lost consciousness. Joe caught him under the arms before he hit the ground, and effortlessly picked up the younger boy bridal style.

"Okay, everyone follow me. I'm taking you guys back to your bus. And I'm gonna speak with your management and try to get your concert rescheduled okay?" Joe said a little annoyed as he started walking towards the door.

Luke, Michael and Ashton followed in suit and praised their coach for doing this. "Thank you so much Joe, we feel awful canceling the show but obviously this won't work out," Ashton told him.

"Yeah no problem bud, it's the least I can do," Joe smiled at him.

---

Joe gently laid Calum down in his bunk and grabbed a wet cloth to lay over his forehead, which he realized was burning with fever. The other three went into the back and bundled themselves up in blankets.

Joe walked into the room, "Alright, Calum's asleep now. I'm gonna go and speak with management, so you guys just stay here and rest up, okay? I'll be back to check on you guys later." They mumbled thank you's in response and with that Joe left the bus. They were alone as the bus driver was out on a break.

---

Within an hour, Calum had woken up and in a disoriented state, moved into the back with the others. They were all huddled up together, shivering with raging fevers.

After staring out the window for a while, Ashton heard Luke whimper beside him. He was sweating, shivering profusely and looked as though he were having a bad dream.

Weakly, Ashton reached over to wake him but almost immediately saw stars dance in front of his eyes. So he pulled his hand back and blinked a few times in attempt to clear his vision. It was to no avail though, because the moment he opened them again, the world spun around him and all he could see was darkness.

---

Joe walked onto the bus with a bag full of thermometers and medicine. Everyone was sleeping so he quietly placed everything down and checked over each boy.

Ashton wasn't responding, so Joe grabbed a wet cloth and dabbed it over his face and neck until he woke. Ashton groaned and looked at Joe, then closed his eyes again.

"Hey, hey, have some water Ashton. Also take one of these tablets," he coaxed the drummer to drink and swallow the fever reducer.

Afterwards, he managed to get the rest of the guys to swallow some medicine and had cold cloths resting on each of their heads.

"So I spoke with your manager," Joe began, all four guys feeling a bit better now from the medicine, "Your concert will be postponed to next week, but that means a tight schedule is coming your way,"

"That's fine, we really appreciate you doing this," Ashton told him, his voice congested.

"Yeah no problem. Well, I'll see you guys later then," Joe said his goodbyes and left the bus.

"You guys wanna watch a movie?" Calum asked.

Everyone agreed, and that's how they spent the rest of their evening, relaxing...with a few sneezes or coughs here and there.

Hope you liked it :) sorry I've been gone for a while, I'll be working on more of my requests, so stay tuned!
