part one

The boys of 5 Seconds of Summer were on a three day break and it had started off on a very bad note. Ashton had pulled a prank on everyone and let's just say it didn't end well. Everyone was very annoyed at him and weren't talking to him.

He and Calum were sharing one of their two hotel rooms but at the moment, all of them were in Michael and Luke's room. Ashton lay alone in his room feeling really left out, none of the guys were on speaking terms with him. After a few minutes, the last week began to catch up on him and his eyes drifted closed.

The sun slowly rose in the sky and its rays shown in through the blinds, casting streams of light across the room. Ashton's face contorted in annoyance and he turned to face the opposite direction as the light felt like it was burning his eyes.

He lay there for a moment, eyes still closed and realized he didn't feel his best. He inwardly groaned and opened his eyes. Calum was in the bed opposite, shirtless and snoring loudly. Ashton wished they weren't still mad at him. It was a harmless prank and he meant nothing by it; it was supposed to be just for a laugh.

He sat up in bed, yawning and rubbing the sleepiness out of his eyes. His head was pounding and he felt oddly cold despite the large blanket that was still covering the lower half of his body. He shook off the feeling and got out of bed, throwing on some jeans and a different shirt.

In the bathroom, he stood in front of the mirror and looked at his reflection. He was noticeably pale and anyone could tell that he was tired, considering his droopy eyes and the darkened circles underneath them. He was sick.

He looked through his toiletry bag for some medicine to help his headache as it didn't seem to be going away. There was a bottle of Advil in there, and just to prove his luck, there was only one left in it. He sighed and swallowed it dry before zipping up the small bag and walking out of the bathroom. He felt really winded after the short walk so he sat down on his bed and took a few deep breaths.

Calum began to stir and then he rolled onto his back, stretching and yawning loudly.

"Morning, Cal," Ashton said in hopes that Calum would have forgotten about their brawl from the day previous.

"Morning," Calum mumbled without much enthusiasm or even looking over at Ashton. But it was possible that he might've done that because he was still half asleep.

"Look Cal, I'm really sorry about what I did yesterday, it was only meant for a good laugh," Ashton turned his body to face Calum.

Calum finally looked at Ashton and was taken back a little by how pale Ashton looked. But he brushed it off.

"It's fine Ash, I'm not mad anymore," he yawned again, "But I don't know about Luke or Michael..." Calum threw the covers off himself and walked into the bathroom. A few minutes later, Ashton could hear the faint patter of the shower hitting the floor.

Ashton laid his head back down on his pillow and slowly closed his eyes. Then, unintentionally, he fell asleep.

Calum hopped out of the shower and dried himself off. He fixed his hair and brushed his teeth before going back to the room to get dressed. Ashton was laid on top of his sheets, curled up in a ball. Calum thought this was weird since he was just awake and seemed ready to go.

"Ashton..." he poked the older boys cheek. Nothing happened but Ashton's cheek felt oddly warm. Calum felt it with the back of his hand and found it very warm. He had a fever.

Calum took his hand away quickly as Ashton slowly opened his eyes and looked at Calum, yawning.

"Sorry, I fell asleep again," he mumbled.

"Are you okay? You seem off..."

Ashton nodded, but then thought for a moment and it turned into a shake. "I don't know, I feel kind of sick," His head continued to pound in his skull.

"Did you have any medicine yet? What kind of sick?" Calum questioned.

"Yeah I had an Advil this morning, and it's my head, but I'll be fine don't worry," Ashton said and got up from the bed.

Calum nodded, "Alright, just take it easy today," Ashton nodded and then the two of them went into the other guys' room.

Ashton, thinking that Michael and Luke were still mad at him, went to the far corner of the room and sat in a big arm chair. He pulled out his phone and checked Twitter.

Michael was in the shower and Luke was getting dressed. The blonde walked over to Ashton and patted him on the shoulder.

"Hey man, I'm really sorry about yesterday, ignoring you and all," he said, "I was just really annoyed by the prank, but to be fair it was a bit funny,"

Ashton smiled, "Thanks Luke, and it's fine, really."

The two of them chatted on until Luke noticed how pale Ashton was as well.

"Are you feeling ok?" he asked.

"Erm, I'm not feeling my best today actually. I just feel a bit cold and I've got a massive headache," Ashton explained.

Luke, seeing how he was shivering slightly, bent down and felt Ashton's forehead, feeling heat radiating off of it. "Yeah you've got a fever, Ash. I think you should stay in bed for a little while."

Ash nodded and immediately turned to curl his body into the armchair, feeling drained and tired the longer he sat there. This concerned Luke and Calum as Ashton was usually one to hide his sickness. Luke grabbed the blanket off of his bed and gently laid it over Ashton, who was dozing off. Luke and Calum then sat on the bed flipping though the tv channels.

Michael came out of the bathroom all dressed for the day and noticed Ashton fast asleep on their chair. He wasn't mad about the prank anymore and actually felt a little embarrassed for the way he reacted yesterday.

"Ash isn't feeling well, he's got a fever and a headache so we told him to rest for a while," Luke said, noticing Michael looking over at Ashton.

Michael's eyebrows furrowed in concern and he walked over to the older boy, placing his hand gently on Ashton's forehead, feeling it hot to the touch.

Michael sighed, knowing how much Ashton hated being sick, "Man, I hope he gets better soon, we've only got one more day of down time before we have to start rehearsing for the tour," he said quietly as to not wake up the ill boy. The others hummed in agreement as Michael headed over to lay on his bed and relax.

Ashton slept soundly, curled up under the blanket, unaware of the gravity of this situation emerging among them.
