Auria's POV
I woke up in my bed. I gulped in air, briefly hyperventalating before I could calm myself down. Arlyn had fallen asleep in the chair next to my bed, hand in mine. I sat up and laughed, tussling his hair. The kaleik Eagle was leaning against the wall on the other side of the room with his hair in a ponytail. He was chewing on a stick. He glanced over, catching my eye briefly, before he walked out, presumably to go tell someone I was awake. I woke Arlyn up. He blinked deeply before hugging me. I laughed and pushed him away. "No hugs until you wipe the drool off your face." He pouted and wiped his mouth. "Better." I smiled and stood shakily. I started to fall, but Arlyn caught me. Laughing, we made our way into the main room. I sat down on a cushion, one of the new additions Sky had made when she became an Eagle. Arlyn ran into the kitchen and returned a moment later with a cookie. "I saved you one. It's cold, though. Sky made it this morning." I sighed and ate it. "Wait," I said, mid-cookie. "This morning? How long was I out?" He looked away. "A week. What happened?" I ate another bite. "Visions. I haven't had one since getting on the boat to Ildis." Arlyn sat down next to me. "The sun elf girl again?" I nodded. "We need to go search Ildis. And we're bringing that kaleik." He looked at me funny. "I'm not explaining his life story right now; but he's important. I know it. He triggered the vision, and I think he's one of the people we need to find. I've only seen four people focused on in the visions. The sun elf girl is the only one missing that I've seen that I can identify.." My voice trailed off. I looked away. "What is it?" Arlyn asked, clearly not getting the hint. "Nothing. It's fine. We need to prepare to go back to Ildis, and bring the kaleik." Arlyn nodded and got up. I waited til he was gone and started looking for the kaleik. I didn't mention it to Arlyn, but I already knew his name. And most of his life story. Ki-Ilu, and his human name was Kai. I found him on the roof, leaning against the lookout tower. I made my way across the wall and stood against it near him. He glanced over at me and I saw that he had a white kitten on his shoulder. He scratched its head and it purred. "Y'need something?" He asked. I looked out at the sunset. "I need you to come with me to Ildis. A quick trip, hopefully. Life or death stuff." He looked at me like I were insane, which I defintly was. I realised one of his eyes had a pupil with a pure silver iris. "Why me? You have a group of hundreds of orphan kids looking for adventure." He asked. "You were chosen for this, Kai. Or should I call you Ki-Ilu." He winced at the mention of his name. "How do you even know my name? The only person I told is dead." I glanced at him. "I see things. Don't worry, I haven't told anyone. Yet. I've seen most of your life, actually. And I'm sorry. Terrible things have happened to you, and I'm about to drag you into even more terrible things. But if you don't even try, people will die. I can't change the fact that some people will die no matter the outcome, but I know there will be more if you don't come." He glanced back at me and sighed. "Fine. But just know, you can't keep your secrets forever either. I know your soul isn't truely yours." I stepped back at that. "Looks like I've hit a nerve. I'll keep my secrets, you keep yours. Just don't let them burn you out." And with that, he leaped to the ground. |Like not far, this is the roof of a mostly underground building|
