Auria's POV
I woke up in a dark space. I realized I wasn't awake, just back in limbo. With Aileene. She stepped out of the shadows. "Welcome, my dear. Seems you need to watch where you're going." Her elegant black hair flowed over her shoulders, cascading out of some up-braided hair. "Force the connection. Or else, just wake me up. They'll find me soon." She smiled and shook her head. "Oh, but dear, we haven't gotten to talk. I've missed you." I laughed. "Cut the crap, Aileene. You want something." She laughed. "Ah, my girl, we have much to discuss. You can wake yourself up." I closed my eyes and concentrated. A flash of light emerged and I opened my eyes. Stick blood surrounded my head. I heard nearby footsteps and threw myself to my feet, hitting the ground in a run. My feet crunched against the dry leaves of autumn and I reached another clearing. cursed to myself when I saw cliffs surrounding me, and men close behind me. I got a running start and kicked off of the wall, climbing fast. I stopped for breath around the center of the rockwall. A soldier peeked through the underbrush and readied ann arrow. I took a deep breath and resumed my ascent. He let an arrow fly and I screamed out in pain.
An arrow was lodged in my shoulder.
I had to continue, as swiftly as I could without putting too much pressure on my shoulder. Arlyn's men started climbing. I reached the top in a minute or so, breaking off into a sprint. The men were still around 8 minutes behind me, but I couldn't take the chance. I reached a cave, consealed by ivy and rock formations. I used my earth magic skills to lock myself in, covering the hole with plants and rock, leaving a small space to see. The men passed me by quickly, letting me sigh out in relief. They moved on in the futile pursuit of yours truely. I clawed the arrow out of my shoulder. Poisoned. My vision blurred and I gave into the unconsciousness.
I opened my eyes to the familiar dark void that served as the meeting place of me, Kai, and Aileene. "My dear, back already." Aileene murmered, mockingly sweet. I sighed. "Do you know when Kai will be here?" I asked, exasperated. She just shrugged. I waited around an hour for Kai to appear. He shimmered into existance and yawned. I laughed. "Tired in your dreams, huh? I don't have much time. I've escaped and hidden myself, but they've shot me with a poison arrow. I reckon they're heading back to Inari. I don't have much time left until.. the.. incubus.." My voice trailed off and my vision darkened.
