I watched as the sunlight dappled the flowers in the garden, mesmerized by how they seemed to be dancing to the wind. Back at the house, my two older brothers were running about the house busy packing their suitcases and yelling at each other. I sat down in the grass, feeling the peaceful breeze tugging at my clothes. Absentmindedly, I plucked a flower from its stem and sat gazing at it, deep in thought.
"Lily!" My mother's voice jolted me out of my thoughts. "Hurry up, we're gonna be late!"
I sighed and got up, heading back into the house. Today was the first day of school at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. My brother Albus would be attending first year, while my oldest brother James would be starting his third year. I couldn't wait for my turn, though I still had to wait two whole years before I could go to Hogwarts.
James looked up from his suitcase as I entered. "Hey sis," he grinned at me. "You've been sulking out there for half an hour!"
I huffed with annoyance, but couldn't hide the smile that was threatening to appear on my face. "Really, James? I've only gone out for fifteen minutes!"
James tutted at me with mock disapproval. "Still, you shouldn't be sulking. You'll be at Hogwarts soon."
"Not soon enough." I answered.
James laughed lightly. "You'll miss me, won't you?"
"Of course I will," I flopped down on the couch disappointedly. "I always do. You'd better send me an owl when you get there."
"Whoa there!" James got up. "Don't sit down, we've gotta go!" He walked over to me and picked me up easily, - I was nine years old and rather skinny - flinging me upside-down over his shoulder as he carried me to Albus' room.
"Stop! Let me down!" I squealed.
"Uh huh, I will soon."
James set me down next to Albus, who was staring at his suitcase, unmoving. He waved a hand in front of his face. "Hey, anyone there?"
Albus snapped out of his daze. "Huh? Oh...I was just thinking."
James snorted. "You might be sorted into Ravenclaw, such a deep thinker!"
Albus looked up worriedly. "Do you really think so? I want to be in Gryffindor!"
I hit James across the arm. "Don't worry Al, he's kidding." I shot James a glare. "Aren't you?"
James shrugged, apparently unconcerned, and smirked. "Sure, of course I am!"
I shook my head. "Come on Al, I'll help you pack. It'll be quicker."
Albus smiled at me gratefully and together, we set to work.

A little while later, we were all set and ready to go. My father, Harry, parked the car outside the house for us to pile our suitcases in. Then we all jumped into the car one by one. James was carrying his owl, Zeus, while Albus was carrying his one, named Apollo. Seriously, what was up with all the Greek Gods here?
When we arrived at King's Cross, I hopped out of the car and trailed along behind my two brothers, clutching my father's arm. I burst into tears.
"Lily, honey, what's the matter?" My father asked.
"I wish I could be going to Hogwarts as well!"
"It won't be long, and you'll be going too," he told me, smiling gently.
"Two years," I sniffed tearfully. "I want to go now!"
He patted me on the back gently, trying to reassure me.
Meanwhile, my brothers were arguing again as they trotted along in front of us.
"I won't! I won't be in Slytherin!" Albus was yelling at James.
Well I certainly hoped Albus would be in Gryffindor. Our whole family was in Gryffindor! Even all our cousins and relatives!
Suddenly, a family of four emerged from the mist. I couldn't help the grin that spread across my face as the faces of my favourite cousins came into focus. Hugo and Rose beamed and rushed over to greet us.
"Hi!" I ran to Hugo's side. Hugo and I were very close, as he was the only cousin that was the same age as me. I watched our parents chat for a while, then turned back to him. "What house do you think we'll be in when we finally go to Hogwarts?"
"Oh, I really hope we'll be in Gryffindor," Hugo answered. "It's by far the best house."
We continued chatting cheerfully about this subject. It sure was fun to discuss, but when the time comes, I honestly wish I would be placed in Gryffindor.
Just then, Uncle Ron said to my father in a low voice, " Look who it is." he nodded his head slightly at a point in the distance.
I turned my head towards the general direction. There, standing in the thick mist, were a family of three.
The man had white-blond hair and a pointed chin. I recognised him from the descriptions my parents had given me. His name was Malfoy. Draco Malfoy.
Standing next to him was a little boy around the same age as Albus and Rose. He greatly resembled his father, although looking slightly kinder. I hated to admit it, but he was actually pretty cute.
No, I shook my head. What was I thinking? He was a Malfoy, for goodness sake! I turned away from them and studied the ground, resisting the urge to look back.
"So that's little Scorpius." My uncle said quietly. He looked down at his daughter. " Make sure you beat him in every test, Rosie. Thank God you've inherited your mother's brains."
"Ron, for heaven's sake," Aunt Hermione chided, although looking quite amused. "Don't try to turn them against each other before they've even started school!"
"You're right, sorry," Uncle Ron said, but then couldn't resist adding, "Don't get too friendly with him, though, Rosie. Granddad Weasley would never forgive you if you married a pureblood."
I was a little curious at this. What had happened in the past between our family and the Malfoys? Whenever I touched on this subject in the past, my parents had always told me to wait until I was a little older to hear the story.
I couldn't stand it any longer and looked back at the Malfoys again. Scorpius was staring at something on the ground, seemingly deep in concentration. Then, all of a sudden, he looked up and caught my eye.
I froze, feeling like a mouse caught in a trap. I tried to look away, but somehow, I couldn't. I stared deep into his eyes. They were a light stormy grey, giving off an air of mystery. Although beneath his calm demeanor, I could sense humour. Scorpius Malfoy smirked at me.
I felt myself blushing. Trying to hide it, I glanced at him again to see whether or not he had noticed. Apparently, he did. His smile widened as he saw my reaction. I huffed and firmly turned my back on him. I could feel his eyes boring into my back, and could practically imagine his amused expression.
I watched as my brothers and cousin boarded the train. For some reason, Albus didn't seem worried anymore. In fact, he seemed a lot happier than he was a few minutes ago.
The train started to pull out of the station. I couldn't help a few tears spilling onto my face as I ran alongside the train, waving my brothers goodbye.
I was going to miss them.
